The cause was black mold that was found inside. Back in April that mold was removed. The discovery of that mold prompted the Vermillion County commissioners to take a closer look at their courthouse. " It's the county. The courthouse is the hub of the county. The courthouse has people working in here. People in and out all the time and we were concerned for their safety, " said Tim the president of the Vermillion County commissioners. A mold inspection report indicated, indeed there is mold growing inside. The problem started up on the rooftop. Every time it would rain the water would go down the drain. A leak later sprung in the attic which left mold in the Chief Probation office. " The first spot that we had come up was right up here on the ceiling which we have got taken care of all that at the present the time. And the next spot that came above is right above my desk, " said Ron Stateler the chief probation officer at the Vermillion County Courthouse. When Stateler's spotted ceiling started to change colors the commissioners took action. " We have contacted a company that has come in and they have inspected it and they found some spores in different areas and recommend we had the air conditioner ducts cleaned, " said . At the next county commissioner meeting in September they will receive a final bid to remove the mold. Shortly after that the cleanup process should begin. Report by Jane Santucci, WTHI.
