Fairfax Family Lives with Moldy Mess

Peg Melberg and her daughter say they've lived with mold in the

walls, floors and ceilings of their apartment for more than a year.

She believes it's coming from water leaking inside from a drainage

pipe.

Mother and daughter say they suffer with sinus infections, headaches

and breathing problems.

Melberg said, " It's so bad...the laboratories told us we can't stay

there. "

She's referring to a private lab that confirmed the mold. Melberg

has also called the Fairfax County (web|news) Health Department.

She says they returned from vacation to find her walls ripped out

and her daughter's bedroom sealed off. The family had planned to

move out at the end of the month because of the problem, but now

everything from the bedroom is contaminated with mold spores. They

want the landlord at the Amberleigh apartment building to

decontaminate their belongings and return them.

This mold removal comes more than a year after she first complained

that the mold was making her and her daughter sick.
