Guest guest
All, Does anybody know what thermoflex ducts with R6 insulation are? The company who cleaned the air ducts suggested these are better than the old ones with R2 insulation. To recap, the house was built in 1997, typical California tract construction. We installed a UV light and extra filtration on the furnace for the allergies we have as a result of the prior toxic exposure in another house in the 1990s. The air conditioner unit is dry. There IS a fine yellowish powdery dust which settles on the furniture. The amount has decreased in the past six months. The Ocean Air Care people describe themselves as " professional HVAC system cleaning " . They say the old ducts with the R2 insulation are broken at the joints and need to be replaced. Any and all advice would be appreciated. Mal **************Looking for a car that's sporty, fun and fits in your budget? Read reviews on AOL Autos. Guest guest
There are non-fiberglass options out there, but they are hard to find.. (flexduct made with cotton from blue jeans, reflectix over mylar flexduct, etc.) many told me that its best to avoid running ducts through unconditioned spaces if possible.. flex duct is not smooth it is fairly resistant to airflow compared to smooth... YMMV
