Guest guest
You should go to a doctor who is familiar with cholestyramine protocol. In my experience, it took quite a while of taking cholestyramine for that to go away completely. Each day of taking cholestyramine four times a day reduced the load a lttle bit. At the beginning, unlike many, I was still exposed to mold in the apartment I was living in. But the cholestyramine helped tremendously because that is when I was moving and I was getting major exposure. I likened it to a sort of exorcism. The cholestyramine molecule is electrically charged and it grabs on to these low-moecular weight biotoxins and attaches to them. That allows them to be excreted. If you can't take cholestyramine, ask your doctor to call Dr. Shoemaker and ask him about the other options. I know he talks o his web site, biotoxin.info, about how he has some people take welchol to replace one or more of the daily doses. I don't think that simply taking fiber or similar things like some people suggest would be at all comparable to taking cholestyramine. Thats not to say that fiber would not help with the constipation from cholestyramine. Dr. Shoemaker prescribes sorbitol and a PPI (like Prilosec or Prevacid) to help with the side effects, I think. As far as fber goes, watch out for inulin, though. I recently tried replacing some of my metamucil with inulin and the inulin was fermenting (!) in my gut like crazy and I had to cut back.. a lot. In my experience it was important to get exercise, too, even if I was very tired. The combination of cholestyramine, exercise, FRESH AIR, (i.e. MOLD AVOIDANCE) and a laxative a few hours after the CSM is a powerful one to help someone with mold illness get better. LiveSimply, did you previously have a lot of sensitivity to toxic mold? (In structures? To items that had been stored in moldy structures? Outdoors in " plumes " ?) If so, did the CSM help at all with that? Have whatever health problems you had resolved? Thanks much for your help.
Guest guest
I have noticed a lot of additional edema with CSM. So are you saying the other drug does the same thing without the edema? CSM has not seemed to help me at all.

I found that a lot of the reaction I was getting from it was going through my kidneys. I don't think that would be mold, since mold's fat soluble. And while it's nice to detox whatever bad stuff's in my body, I'd rather focus on the mold since that seems my big problem. Both the CSM and brown seaweed have been pretty intense. Too intense to go very fast, for sure.
