Guest guest
Toxic Encephalopathy is swelling of the brain due to the introduction of a toxic substance in the body which causes a number of health complications associated with it. Im sure you have heard of the famous case out of Dripping Springs Texas and Melinda Ballard. Her husband which suffered the worst of the symptoms official diagnosis was Toxic Encephalopathy. Unfortunately so was mine. At my worst at the tail end of living in the toxic mold environment my symptoms included extreme headaches from the brain swelling and an inability to recall vocabulary while speaking and zombie like characteristics. My brain was shutting down slowly. Two nites before i finally moved out i urinated(sorry to be graphic) in my sleep which was a sign of autonomic nervous system damage and damage to that part of my brain which regulates those things normally. I was exposed to Stachybotrys Mold. E From: who <jeaninem660@...> Subject: [] what is toxic encephalopathy? Guest guest
As was I, I still experience these symptoms. The vocabulary, spelling and stuff like that, In person I must seem illiteate. On computer or letters I get buy by spending much time looking up words I used to know and use. I look back at many letters Ai have written in the past and wonder how I could loose such an ability just like that. More amazing and confusing at the same time is peoples lack of care or understandidg. And I am not talking about people you do not know. At least they just figure your kind of slow and uneducated, no its those who have known you and what has happen to you and expect you to be just as they once knew you. If you arnt your just not trying hard enough. I will leave my tyrate at that for now but I for one can say that this all has been a very difficult thing to get a granp on and I cant say I have even really done that yet. Guest guest
Only a neuro-toxicologist can make the determination. They have the prescribed/recognized tests.
Guest guest
Vet, Are there any tests I can take to see if I have this condition? I do know that I've got adrenal fatigue and hashimotos which have indeed affected my concentration and clarity, but am not sure if there is something else going on. I'm sorry to hear about what you have had to contend with. I too am dealing with much the same. Guest guest
Sam, It was found and diagnosed by doing a brain spectroscopy. If I understand correctly this spesific test is different than your averatge cat scan type test but that is the name of the test done. Dr. Shoemaker was the one to diagnose the toxic ancephalopathy (aw hell however you spell it) If I cqan be of any more help later I will. I have alot on my plate at the moment and I think some of it is spilling on the table so I hope that helps for now. Guest guest
I also became increasingly incontinent while living in a moldy house. I think it is quite common among mold victims. with the moldy tongues- hair falling out-skin rashes-we make a great group-what A line up! Guest guest
Thanks Chris. I really appreciate your taking the time to address this while you have so much going on. We are in the same boat here, so I can sympathize with what you are up against and how you are feeling. I also appreciated your sense of humor about it all. A good lesson for me. Guest guest
A scan does not DETERMINE the level of funcational capacity that is affected. Guest guest
Dr. Shoemaker contracts with a center fairly local to him that does these tests using a new, very sensitive kind of imaging that shows damage very clearly. Its described in Mold Warriors - (which was written in 2004) as something he would like to have access to. Now he does. (The analysis of their scans is I am sure done by their staff, who are trained in it. They send the results to Dr. S.) Run of the mill CAT scans can't and don't show the brain damage from mold. Guest guest
I have found that doing ozone via the ears has helped a lot my brain function ability. I do not know if anyone here has had the same experience. cathy Just having more oxygen has helped a lot and I hope to get myself an oxygen concentrator that I can use for excercising and hope to get more oxygen and improve brain function as well. I also find that Lithium Oratate- the mineral- has helped my brain function and depression as well. www.tahoma-clinic.com has good articles on Lithium Orotate written by the doctor who did all the research the past 30 years. He was also my doctor for 5 years. He is excellent and thinks out of the box. cathy
