Earlier this week neighbors came to us with photos showing mold

growing in a filthy vacant apartment.

Someone kicked in the apartment door.

The day after our story aired, someone fixed the door.

It took two days to get a response from the apartment management

company.

There was mold on the doors and throughout the apartment. The sink

and the floor had deteriorated beyond repair. Now tenants

Goslin and Homes say people in the building are getting sick.

Cohen-Esrey Real Estate Services, in an e-mail sent to the station,

said no tenants of the building had filed complaints about illness

as of Wednesday.

The e-mail states the mold is contained to one apartment and will

not transfer to neighboring apartments.

Cohen-Esrey Real Estate Services, LLC, serves as the management

company for Country Club Apartments. Our company prides itself in

providing decent, safe and sanitary housing for all residents of the

communities we are privileged to serve.

The apartment home reviewed by Channel 49 news at Country Club

Apartments is currently unavailable for rent to the public. Our

standards of excellence, the code by which we base our management

practices, would not allow us to move a resident into a unit in this

condition. Since this interview, we have been assured by our

contractors, as well as city and code officials that no violations

have occurred. The individual apartment homes at Country Club have

separate air filtration systems, therefore, any issues in one

apartment are unable to transfer to neighboring apartments.

It should be noted that Cohen-Esrey has no record of complaints

received prior to this interview regarding illness due to apartment

conditions from the residents residing at Country Club Apartments.

We encourage all residents to discuss these issues with us related

to their stay at any of our communities, and we welcome those

comments. Cohen-Esrey personnel will always take immediate action to

ensure our residents are cared for with superior service.

The unit reviewed has been secured and is being analyzed for

corrective action, including the clean up necessary.

M. Huffman, CPM

Senior Vice President

Director of Property Management

Cohen-Esrey
