Guest guest
The same thing happened in my building many times. I tried to explain to the guys over on the mold pros list that the bad ones never tell anyone its mold or take precautions because that to them, would be acknowledging guilt.. EVEN WHEN THEY KNOW.... when they are known to know.. when they have been told.. They blame the victims.. They know they are hurting people but they want to always pretend they don't know. Nobody acknowledged hearing this.. The interesting thing about this is that a few posts previously, it had been acknowledged by one of the semi-dehards on the list who usually is very skeptical about mold toxicity, that THE AMOUNTS OF SPORES FOUND DURING MOLD REMEDIATION - which as I understand can exceed 1 million CFU/square meter.. IS toxic.. even the diehards agreed that.. (of course, they are never exposed directly to levels like that because in THEIR world, when people crack into walls in those known mold situations, they use " PPE " personal protective equipment.. HEPA filter masks.. Tyvek suits, gloves, etc.. Well, I was trying to explain to them that that is a different standard than is used in the UGLY world of working people's homes and workplaces.. the kinds of places THAT DON'T SEE ANY REASON TO HIRE A PROFESSIONAL FIRM WHEN AFTER ALL, THEY ARE ON A JIHAD TO INSIST THAT MOLD IS HARMLESS.. (to admit anything else would be to also admit that they had been poisoning people for years..) Nobody answered this or said anything.. In my old apartment building, my complaints and hiring a lab (who found abundant stachybotrys and asp/pen) PRECEEDED a series of uncontrolled, uncontained openings of walls with NO acknowledgement and no containment, while other tenants in the building were gone.. I even videotaped two of them.. to show how they worked.. the time they were cracking into the bathroom tile, through a glass door.. wearing a mask.. (I had a lot of courage but in retrospect I should have left the building.. but i was desperate to stop this and get my apartment fixed PROFESSIONALLY. I didnt want to move because I knew I wouldnt be able to find another place..) Even after the city had issued a " stop work order " because of another inspector (who was also made sick by the smell) had posted on the building a sign saying immediately stop work because of mold and unsafe situation and possible lead paint (100 year old building) they continued to break down walls.. with no protection whatsoever.. the workers weren't even told.. (they tore the signs down) I have photos and as I said, even used my digital camera to make a short video (just so you could hear the chipping and see the dust pouring out of that bathroom through the glass door..) low-res video (with sound) of the demolition.. THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME.. On Fri, Aug 29, 2008 at 7:13 AM, Patilla DaHun <glypella@...> wrote: > > A year after I left United HealthCare, they gutted the building in > which I had worked.
