Guest guest
The problem, as I see it, is that our society is changing and private citizens like ourselves have less and less power, relative to what we had ten or twenty years ago. This is because of the declining need for workers in industry. Our power is basically our vote (whch is dependent on our having homes), our voices (which is dependent on our being well enough to and willing to speak, openly, knowing the risks of being attacked, like Sharon was), and our buying power - or power to not buy as well (which shrinks when you don't have any money - because you would not stop buying something you could not buy in the first place) No longer do we have the power to strike, because after fourty years of organized " deskilling " industry does not depend on skilled workers like it used to. But, we do have power in that in making decisions on things like mold, government is supposed to rely on cost-benefit analysis. But the cost benefit analysis are wildly inaccurate because OUR costs are not being considered at all. What we need to do is to show that the market mechanisms that should deter people from destroying our health ARE BROKEN and that the COSTS TO US ARE ASTRONOMICAL.. If we can show that THE COSTS TO US ARE ASTRONOMICAL AND NEED TO BE FIGURED IN TO THE COST-BENEFIT ANALYSIS, we are halfway there.. Until we do that, we won't be.
