Guest guest
I have to move out of this place before the rains come, which gives me maybe the rest of this month and Sept. There is invisible mold here and it made me sicker than I already was (have Lyme Disease)...though thing is, i realized i have been living in moldy places before that, one after another. I have been looking for a couple of months, and so far found only 2 places that were not too new and offgassing, or moldy. I didn't get either of them. I just looked at a place-I can get it if I want it-landlord was great, we got along and the environment is warm and friendly, she's willing to take Sec.8, the place is new, off the ground, didn't feel any mold symptoms-but it's offgassing. When in there with the windows closed, I felt myself go down. It has new everything. Linoleum floors, two rooms with carpet, paint. Thank god the shelving isn't plywood. It is small, less than 800 sq. ft. There is good ventilation-windows on all sides, vents in the attic. My question is, is there any way, in the group's experience, to remedy the offgassing? I have a HealthMate Air Purifier with charcoal that is supposed to filter out chemicals and mold covering 1500 sq. feet. My main problem is mold, though I have developed chemical sensitivities since.. The reason why I'm seeing if there's anyway to make this work is because it is hard for me to find a place, with Sec.8 and bad credit (because of illness), that isn't moldy, in this area and I cannot relocate yet. The other reason is that I looked at a place built for Sec. 8 housing, so of course they used the cheapest materials like plywood, and I reacted worse, and that place was 2 years old! What do you all think? Is it more important to get out of the mold, even if the chemicals in a place bother me? I'm worried I won't find anything else and then the rains will come and I won't be able to function again. Has anybody successfully been able to remediate offgassing?
