Yes, it was at the party at the Reform Club in London 3 weeks ago. 92 people

came, quite a lot couldn't but sent money and we raised about £45,000. Everyone

looked so elegant. Our new patron,June Brown, is absolutely wonderful. She is

something of a national treasure here, having played a major part in a

well-loved soap opera for the past 20+ years. She had time for everyone . She

did not want to make a speech but very kindly said the Grace. I will put some

more pictures up. The gorgeous blonde in the " Lewy body " dress that looks like

a movie star is Mrs Mc. Almost half of the party came down from Newcastle

with the Mcs. The others came from all over England and Scotland. My

wonderful, generous Dad sponsored the event so that everything we raised was

profit and eligible for a government rebate of an additional 28%. He flew over

for the occasion with his brother and sister-in-law. My 3 young people were

there with their sweethearts and 2 of the 3 young Mcs were there (the

third, alas, taking exams). It was the most amazing event and one of the

greatest experiences of my life. Wish you all could have been there.

, i didn't know you had June on board and think it's wonderful. I

remember her husband passed away from the disease just before my granda and

i was so saddened for her.

June is absolutely charming and funny and so enthusiastic in her support. When

she joined us she asked/told her son, Bill Arnold to run in the London Marathon

for the LBS. He did and raised over £1000. He came to the fundraiser as well and

is really lovely. Dot may have a nasty son on East Enders but in real life

June has an extremely nice one.

As on the telly, she smokes like a chimney, which was still allowed indoors at

the time of the party. Wonderfully polite and thoughtful, afterwards she mailed

me the small pile of lighters that had been left by her place, anxious that I

eturn then to their rightful owners. The few smokers at the do all enjoyed

having a smoke with her.
