Guest guest
Jill, The water damage could have been leaks or plumbing overflows, etc. years or even decades ago. If they were not dried up in time, and it was bad enough, its quite possible that enough toxic products of mold growth grew and remain that they are gradually percolating out into the living space and effecting you. Some are extremely durable and difficult to destroy. They would not show up as spores on spore testing because the identification of spores depends on fairly large structures remaining intact enough to identify under a microscope. They might show up on QPCR, but its not absolutely clear how long fungal DNA remains identifiable - although every indication is that some toxins can persist for a very long time with little decrease in toxicity. The research documenting the various pieces of this is solid enough to make it clear, however, that research is clearly being intentionally ignored. But my daughter lives in Rego Park in an old apartment building and it is remarkably cheap and dry-I have no problem going to visit her. Have you considered moving out to the boroughs? Because her rent is cheap and her apartment is huge (I'll be happy to give you specifics-email me).
Guest guest
Yes I've thought about it, and appreciate the thought and sure, I'll email you. I just am afraid I'll feel isolated out there. For instance, Glen Oaks is a pretty part of Queens, but, there's nothing around there! I like Nyack--it's more my style if I leave the city. But you never know. I've been advised to move to Queens by others. But culcha, culcha, culcha. I know you will say take the subway but somehow I like to be right around the corner... > >Jill-I live in Queens so i hear what you are saying re the rental > situation in NYC.
