Guest guest
Mold Still A Concern at Middle Posted Monday, September 22, 2008 State Journal - ton,WV* http://www.statejournal.com/story.cfm?func=viewstory & storyid=44397 County school officials say they are on top of the problem. Reports of mold inside Middle are still making many parents and faculty members uneasy. " There are many students in there that have problems, many have missed lots of days of school, teachers that are also missing a lot of school and the safety of everyone in this building is very important to us, " said Vatalare, a substitute teacher at the school. But county school officials say they are on top of the problem and that recent tests show their efforts are working. " We replaced all the ceiling tiles in hallways and all the filters were changed in the air conditioners, we're scrubbing all the walls, looking at the roof for possible leaks and we'll be changing out the ceiling tiles as well, " said school superintendent Dr. Ron Duerring. The county school board sent out this letter last week about the latest round of testing, ut many parents say they still have a lot of questions. " Is it all gone? If they have cleaned and done all the things they say then is it all gone? And is the air quality as good as it should be, " said Debbie Carpenter, a parent at the schoo. To help keep parents informed, the local school improvement council will hold a meeting Tuesday evening. In the meantime, the school board vows to remain vigilant in stopping the spores from spreading. " It's not being swept under the carpet. We're not taking a back seat we're going above and beyond getting all the necessary, agencies, the right agencies involved, " Duerring said.
