Hi ,

I have had limited experience with AOL because the only time I use it is

when I'm out of town visiting my family that uses AOL. But, I can tell you

that I don't like it :-) My experience has been that users either love or

hate AOL - personal preference.

Your problem sounds like you're infected with a virus. Do you run

anti-virus software? If so, you should make sure your updates are current

and run a scan on your hard drive. If you don't have anti virus software,

I strongly suggest that you get it. Especially by being on lists such as

this, you are vulnerable to virus attacks. Now, I'm not saying that anyone

on the list would intentionally try to infect your computer. What I am

saying is that by being on the list, you are exposed to many users who may

not know they are infected and can innocently pass the virus along to you

and anyone else on the list.

Your best bet for anti virus protection is to be very selective about

attachments you open. I only open those who come from people I know very

closely and I always scan them one more time before I open them, just to

make sure (even the ones from family). I'm surprised that the people at

AOL didn't bring this up when your mom called them!

I have a dialup account with Strato Net. They have service throughout the

country, but you'll need to check your local area at www.strato.net to see

if there's a local number for you. Although I have a cable connection, I

keep this account as a back up in case the cable goes down. I have had a

very good experience with them - they're up consistently and tech support

is always available by phone.

Hope this helps and good luck!

That is because you are either using 6.0 or 7.0

Neither of them are good! Everyone I know who uses those two program

have problems.

My suggestion to you is to Unistall both of those if you have both.

And Reinstall either 4.0 or 5.0

I also know of some other techinical problems you may be having...and

if you want help...email me and i'll walk you through them.

You will also want to update your Virus scanner...and run it.

My answer to your questions, #1 and #2 are as

follows,,first off I use a local internet

provider, which i have no issues with at all, and

second off, I will never use aol, there has always

been issues with it, for one thing you can not get it

off your system with out calling them and having them

remove it, as long as it's installed into your system.

and aol is like having a virus on your system also,

every technician that i have ever worked with does not

like aol, and will never use it. When i was a

technician i had lots of customers call, who had aol

and wanted to switch to qwest, which is where i

worked, and they wanted aol off their computer, but we

could not do so, aol tech support has to unistall it.

I hope this helps a little bit.

Thanks,
