PEORIA HEIGHTS, IL- A family in Peoria Heights says last week's

excessive rain caused water to fill their apartment and now mold is

starting to grow.

But they say their landlord isn't doing anything about it.

Rain water began flooding into Duane and Chenault's

apartment around dinner time Saturday night.

And after feverishly getting all their electronic equipment off the

floor, they made calls to their land lord.

" She didn't know what to do, " said Duane Chenault.

" So we helped her by going to Loews and getting the proper equipment

to get the water out of the place, " Duane said.

Duane says he, and a friend worked into the wee hours of

the morning trying to pump water from their home.

They also helped their next door neighbor, Arianne , who's 3

months pregnant.

" The smell is very overwhelming...and the mold is starting to creep

up, " said.

She says is mold growing all over the walls of her apartment and her

furniture.

She's hoping Chang will give back her $460 deposit so she can move

out in a couple of weeks.

Meanwhile, Chenault says Chang took $360 off his rent.

Be he says the money isn't what he's after.

" I'm just hoping she'll come in and fix it and do what she needs to

do, " said Chenault.

" We all know that mold grows and mold spreads. And it's not just

going to be this apartment. It's just going to keep continuing up. I

mean it's going to effect everybody, " Chenault said.

Chang said the entire situation is " ridiculous. "

She says she's done everything she can to help. And that she's

waiting for everything to dry out before she calls someone in to

clean up the mold.
