Guest guest
They are usually good for at least 6 months . It depends on the medication. The pharmacist can call the doctor for you if it is outdated . I had a few prescriptions that were old . My doctor just initialed and dated them again . but I wouldn:t worry if its not more than 6 months old .
Guest guest
Jody, I don't know how long they're good for, but whenever I get a new script, I give it to the pharmacist at CVS. He puts it in the computer on hold until I need it. I have held them in the past for up to six months. The only ones he won't put on hold are the controlled pain meds. That's how it works here. Guest guest
Jody - it should not be a problem. The pharmacy can call the doctor's office if they have a question about it. The office will simply confirm the script and you'll be good to go. They probably won't even blink about it, though. sherry z > > How long is a prescription paper good? > I appreciate any insight. > Thanks, > Jody
Guest guest
It may be different in different states... on some Dr.s scripts it actually says good for 90 days or 60 days or whatever beyond prescribed date... that's the way mine is... in some states it says they are good only for 90 days or whatever past written date. Here in WA state, it is only 90 days... michael (and the thor-dinkin and spot) > > I have a question about prescriptions. I went to my rheumy this week and he gave me another script for Enbrel because I only had one month left on my last one. I still have to pick up that last months Enbrel... and so next month I will be giving the pharmacy the one he just gave me... which is dated 7/31. Does anyone know if this will work if I turn it in the end of August? Guest guest
Ask your pharmacist. You should get to be pals with your pharmacist. They can be a GREAT help and often know more about the drugs than the doctor. I do know that my pharmacy does not stock Enbrel and I have to reorder it when I do my 3rd injection from that box (4 to a box). I suppose some pharmacies stock the drug. Ask them about this. If they are not willing to answer your questions without making you feel like an idiot...switch pharmacies. There are plenty out there. On your prescription it should say how long it is good for. If it says one refill...you are good for a month. But ASK YOUR PHARMACIST. Hope this helps. -Betz > > I have a question about prescriptions. Guest guest
EEEK!!! I forgot... The 90 day rule is for narcotics. Others have told you that the pharmacy can just call the doc and they can ok it verbally or by fax... That's for normal meds... But there is also a problem I ran into. I have 2 scripts that my insurance will only take from a specific Dr. In this case the pharmacy wants a written specifically from that doc. Spot's gang today... Saturday, don't ya know... > > > > I have a question about prescriptions. I went to my rheumy this > week and he gave me another script for Enbrel because I only had one > month left on my last one. Guest guest
Help For Prescriptions For CFIDS Sufferers The National CFIDS Foundation had an offer from a man who knows firsthand what it is like to have a loved one suffer from a chronic illness. His 19 year old daughter died of leukemia last year. In her memory, a new program has been established to give you your prescription drugs at his own cost paying only for shipping, handling, and UPS delivery. Although drug companies have plans that give access to drugs to destitute individuals, many do not qualify who still have difficulty paying for their prescription drugs. You need only a licensed physician's prescription to qualify for this program. You may fax or send your prescription to this California company and your prescription will be mailed to you via UPS. Address: Consumer's Discount Drug ph DeCuir, proprietor 6542 Hollywood Blvd. Hollywood, CA 90028 tel.: 323-461-3606 fax: 323-461-3600 No personal checks are accepted. Money orders or credit cards may be used. This offer has been made to other organizations such as the National Cancer Society, but The National CFIDS Foundation is the first one to utilize this wonderful gesture and put out the information for patients. It will be announced, as well, in the summer issue of The National Forum. You need only to be a patient to qualify for this program.
