Guest guest
Dear Jackie, The immunologist helped me a lot. I began injections for cat, dust, tree pollen, grass pollen and mold. Over the eight years that I took them I became 30% less affected by cat dander and now I have my three fluffy ragamuffin cats to keep me company! I just avoid walking in grass barefoot and I do OK. When it is wet outside I am affected by it a little because there is more mold in the air. I do not humidify my house, to keep dust mites at bay. They require 50% humidity to thrive. The immunologist helped me a lot when I had an asthma attack two years ago (because I decided I didn't want to take the meds anymore-stupid). I am doing great now even tho I have AIH. I look like a normal person, no one can tell. [ ] immunology Hi, i havn`t posted for a while, mainly due to ill health. I have recently been to see an immunologist, as i suffer alot of allergies etc. I am hoping and praying the doctor will be able to help. I was wondering if anyone here has ever been to see an immunologist, and if so, how they got on. I`m a little worried that on the day i went to see him, i didn`t feel too bad health wise, and i`m hoping things will still show up in the blood tests he took. I have tried many alternative therapies, as i havn`t got anywhere with doctors so far. I`m on prednisolone for aih, but this hasn`t helped my symptoms much at all.Any advise would be greatly appreciated. love, light and peace. jackie
Guest guest
dear . thanks for replying to my message. I was relieved to hear that you had good results, it has gave me a bit more hope of being helped myself. I don`t go back to see him until february, but he said he would write to me and my doctor, so hopefully i might get to know the results sooner. It must be great to feel normal again and to be able to have cats as pets, after being allergic to them must be wonderful. I`m keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks again. Guest guest
Thanks Jackie! I have to tell my immunologist that I have AIH. He does not know. He is in New Orleans and I am now in Chicago. I like him but it is possible that Allegra, the allergy med he prescribed may have set off the AIH. My hepatologist says that I had the condition for one year before she diagnosed me. I was predisposed to it and medications such as Allegra and Modicon may have been the last straw for my system. I must continue Advair and Flonase for asthma, but I can do without the Allegra and Modicon. I have to let him know I am doing fine. He will be surprised by this diagnosis. Immunologists treat allergies and sometimes asthma. Best wishes, [ ] immunology > >Hi, i havn`t posted for a while, mainly due to ill health. Guest guest
My GI doc gave me a prescription for Allegra and if this is bad pleas let me know this would explain why they can't get me into remission. thanks, the WV hillbilly
Guest guest
Dear , My doctors aren’t sure if taking me off Allegra was part of the key to throwing me into remission. I do know that my LFT’s came down after I stopped taking Modicon and Allegra. I was not taking any prednisone or Imuran at this time, just being observed for three months. I had normal LFT’s prior to taking Allegra, and had been on Modicon for 10 years. They believe AIH developed latently one year prior to diagnosis, just about the time when I started Allegra 180 in New Orleans. After three months of observation and being taken off these meds, AIH finally manifested itself although it had been present for approximately one year. My LFT’s shot up rapidly after coming down to the hundreds range and the decision was made to biopsy and treat with prednisone and Imuran immediately. So, I can’t be sure if Allegra is part of the problem. My biopsy was sent to Mayo for further interpretation and they felt that the AIH was drug induced. But which drug? I will go up there for a consult with Dr. Czaja in February to pin down the cause. Good Luck and hope you feel better!
