Guest guest
Do you have a compelling personal experience to share about living with a neurological disease or disorder - or caring for a person who does? If so, we'd like to hear from you. Patients, caregivers and family members are welcome to submit their first-person essays for publication consideration in the Neurology Now special department called " Speak Up. " Neurology Now is the official publication of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) and is published quarterly by Lippincott & Wilkins for neurology patients and their families. Copies of the publication will be available through neurologist offices. The publication provides accurate and important new information about advances in the diagnosis and treatment of neurological diseases, such as migraine, Alzheimer's disease, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and other disorders. In addition, the publication strives to bring positive messages about wellness and prevention; basic research and clinical trials, as well as patient stories that stress strategies for coping with neurological disorders. Your essay should be written in a conversational style, and should be limited to about 600-800 words. Examples of published essays will be posted on www. neurologynow.com. Please submit essays for consideration by e-mail to the Neurology Now Managing Editor, Mike Smolinsky, at Mike.Smolinsky@.... If sent as an attachment, the preferred electronic format is Microsoft Word. If possible, please name the file and use the extension -- .doc - to send. Include your full name and a good quality digital photo with the essay. We will publish this information in the magazine. All work for Neurology Now must be original, and the AAN owns all rights. We do offer an honorarium. Our editorial team will review all essay submissions. If we cannot publish your essay, we will get back to you within four weeks of submission.
