Guest guest
Well that's good to know. Because the idea of a mold I can't smell that is deadly, well... Anyway, if and when it comes to gearing up for moving, I will probably call on a bunch of people on this list and experts as well. I will probably rent at first somewhere else. I really am nervous given my delicate health and MCS and so on. I can't have a place with pergo floors, recent kitchen cabinet or bathroom renovation, fresh (toxic) paint, NOR mold. I think they should train sniffer dogs for mold--do they do that? Can you imagine going from the frying pan into the fire? That is one thing I do NOT want to do. Guest guest
stachy in not always covered with slime. the thickness or amount of slime or a constant slime is directly related to the moisture available. seen and tested by a very reliable co. at my first home. I found some by tape test at my second home but it was basicly being smothered out by asp/pen and others but chaetomium did well with them. and I'm sure there were areas that I couldn't get to were stachy was doing it's thing. what is picked up in the air has very little to do with the many different molds that can be found in their own little nitch throughout a house. weither stachy smells? maybe the slime part when it's there but about the only smell from it when dry is a earthy dirt smell and that may be more whats mixed/decomposed from/with it or what it was growing on than the mold itself. there is a gritty, sanding grit felling with it but felling and smelling are to different things. Guest guest
>Can I just say that when you have MCS everything has a smell! A friend described my sense of smell as " vampire " -I smelled a body cream she used THE DAY BEFORE. I can tell when someone used ammonia to wash their floors up to 3 days before (that's my record so far-3 days!) It's an awful thing-my house will never ever smell good to me again. I smell parts of the basement-the concrete floor has an annoying cold smell that I can feel even upstairs on the second floor. My mother suggested I hire myself out as one of the drug sniffing dogs at the airport-she was joking of course, but I bet I could do it. On the plus side-we can definitely trust our noses-if we smell something, even if no one else does-it's there. > stachy in not always covered with slime. the thickness or amount of > slime or a constant slime is directly related to the moisture > available. seen and tested by a very reliable co. at my first home. Guest guest
At least you can still smell! First, I became sensitive to smells, then I lost 99% of my sense of smell - when I got sick.. now I can smell around 10% of what I used to be able to smell.. the pleasant things have to be literally right under my nose.. There are lots of different mold smells.. old mold smell in clothing, etc, is very different than living mold smell.
