I remember Oprah had a show about Going Green and it mentioned safe cleaning

products from a company named Shaklee.  I don't know anything about them, but

their products sounded good when they talked about them on Oprah.  I found their

website.  It's www.shaklee.com.  Maybe someone on Sickbuildings has tried their

products?

I saw the same show and ordered the products right away. I love most of

them. I use their dish soap, dishwasher soap and Basic H. Basic H is

concentrated and is mixed with water for cleaning different surfaces. One

drop of Basic H with 16 oz of water is all that is needed for glass. Grimey

surfaces use 1 1/2 teaspoon Basic H to 16 oz water. Their laundry soap made

both me and my daughter itch.

I have never tried any of their products, but the company has been around for

something

like 30 years or so. It was a pyramid type company with sales people recruiting

sales

people. Haven't heard much about them in years.

May be something to look into. Seems like they are very green with the

ingredients. I

don't see anything about fragrances. I can't deal with fragrances.

Here's some information from their website about the safety of their products.

I was happy to see their list of things that they don't include in their

Just like any other products that make big claims I would be very

cautious of. My reason for saying this, I had a bad experience with

Shaklee when a relative was only trying to help us. They called me

all excited about one of their new air purifiers, the representative

was also a good friend of theirs, ha. Never suspecting a good friend

would lie to you, to sell you a $675. air purifier. Also wanting to

sign me up as a distributer. I went on to their website to check it

out, it sounded too good to be true and of course the red flags went

up. As I was speaking to him on the phone I was asking many

questions about the purifier and how it worked, since it didn't have

filters. Uh oh another red flag. But could explain how it worked,

but we know according to him alot a research went into it, but he

knew nothing about it. I asked does it produce ozone, NO absolutely

not.

This kindof reminded me of Amway, you don't find out until the end

or you do alot of digging yourself and that's exactly what I had to

do before I found the specs on how this air purifier operated. They

called photohydroization (sp)another fancy term for ozone. Opps,

caught lying and he just lost two sales and my relative called me a

smartass because they thought I knew everything. Didn't talk to them

for awhile. But I appreciated what they were trying to do to help us.

I just love playing with some of these salesmen and you don't have

to be a genius to figure it out. Don't bust a gut Carl, grin.

I use Shakley's Basic H for most of my cleaning and it has no scent.

This is surely the trap of mlm's for both the sales people who all too often are

more into making sales and the customer who is hoping for help. The shame of it

is that there may be some products which are good, but it gets lost in the sales

pitches of the sellers and unanswered concerns of the buyer. I'm sure too that

there are some people involved who may beleive in their products and are very

sincerely and knowledgable about what they sell, but I personally have yet to

meet them. I often found myself knowing ore about their product then they did

just by doing very basic research-- and I'm no brain here by any means, lol.

I used to be in furniture sales many years ago. I hated the idea of manipulating

people into buying things they didn't want or need. I found a way to just find

out what it was people were looking for and lead them to what I felt would serve

them the best for price and quality and durability. In order to do so, I had to

learn everything I could about what I was selling. I lost sales sometimes, but

in the long run had a good following of repeat customers who knew I was looking

out for them and trusted me. It was the only way I could do the job and sleep at

night. It would be great if when it came to health care especially, that those

who make a living at this would keep that in mind. There is a way to make a

living in sales and help people. If there are any of you on this list who do

that-- please know that I am not pointing the finger at anyone. Just my

two-cents.
