Guest guest
MUSD selling mold-infested portables Manteca Bulletin - Manteca,CA* Vince Rembulat Reporter http://www.mantecabulletin.com/main.asp? SectionID=28 & SubSectionID=58 & ArticleID=59987 & TM=18094.35 For sale: Three Manteca Unified School District portable buildings. One of the 30-by 32-foot units was once used for storing industrial technology for the district. The other two of similar size are at Komure School in Weston Ranch. But at Tuesday's school board meeting, Assistant Superintendent of Business Services Dodge said both portables no longer have the seal of approval from the Department of State Architect office because of mold. " There's no cement floors (on either structure), " he said. " Even though they were treated for mold the problem continued. " As for cost? " We sold one for $76 the last time, " acting Superintendent Messer said. Trustees directed district officials to sell or dispose the three portable units, voting 6-1. Board member Medeiros, who provided the lone " no " vote, favored the plan of just getting rid of the buildings, believing that no buyer would even consider purchasing a portable with an ongoing health concern. " I'm in favor of just disposing them, " he said. Added Dodge: " They're up for sale. And if there's no buyer, we will go ahead and dispose (the portables). Messer, meanwhile, said ridding the district of the mold-infested buildings will clear a path for future projects at those sites.
