Site talks about chemicals and that there are often worse conditions inside of home than outside. Maybe they would be open to information you have. _http://www.healthanhttp://www.hehttp://wwwhttp://_ (http://www.healthandenvironment.org/about/mission) CHE is wonderful. They do much to advance the understanding of illness from the indoor environment...from chemicals. They promote the Green building movement. But there is a little problem when it comes to mold, chemicals, the indoor environment and Green buildings. The basic concept of Green buildings is to control the airflow of the indoor environment for the pollutants of the outdoor environment. Another aspect is to use all natural products to avoid chemical exposures. So, much of what they promote is directly opposite of what is needed to prevent fungal and bacterial induced illness from an indoor environment. To curtail this, we need outdoor airflow. And things that are considered natural and not chemical based are often times fungal in base. Mycoherbicides used to kill parasites on plants without chemicals, is actually using fungus to kill them. So..while CHE is a great org who really is making a difference, I have not found them to be terribly receptive to understanding biological induced illnesses that are often times promoted by sealing up the indoor environment too tight. But... maybe that is just me. Sharon Noonan Kramer **************A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above. See yours in just 2 easy steps! Guest guest
Okay. I just got a little excited about an organization that recognized indoor environment as causing health problems and researching that. I read through site a little and did not see anything about mold, but noticed the topic of electromagnetic fields that Dr Rae is so often criticized for. Too bad but perhaps they will discover eventually. > CHE is wonderful. They do much to advance the understanding of illness from > the indoor environment...from chemicals. Guest guest
I got the organization wrong that Today Show segment was from. It was from 'Greater Boston Physicians for Social Responsibility': http://www.psr.org/site/PageServer?pagename=boston_about ...citing environment as a bigger factor for health and aging than genetics. Here is book which you can read online at link below it, and also a couple of other groups mentioned that are dedicated to this topic, of impact of environment on health. Maybe one would be interested in proof that indoor mold has greater impact than believed? Guest guest
Barb, This was a terrific find. Thank you! I've already distributed it to my other groups and organizations. Guest guest
Hey Barb thanks for that ref. I'm going to download the report. I watched the ABC clip and was feeling very annoyed. I was thinking to myself, " Talk about chemicals. I bet you had your jacket dry-cleaned, your hair is clearly dyed, and you have a ton of makeup on. You sound like you're wheezing too, whoever you are. And you say keep your waist below a certain #, ladies--THAT'S your best advice? " That was a cheap commercialization of a dire reality. And her version of epigenetic influences and a rusting car was also cheap. So I was really annoyed by this spokesperson as the issues are so profound and in addition, yes you can unfortunately upregulate or downregulate genes for life during windows of development, yet you can also influence them *during* life. I was just reading how the Mediterranean diet is so helpful in preventing many diseases of aging, and its simple enough for any of us to follow and enjoy, I think. Meanwhile, we need to be facing the disconnect in modern life, not just about mold, but chemicals in general, as I said, there wasn't one place I looked at on Tuesday that wasn't full of chemicals to hide unpleasant " smells " whatever they were (toxic paint, dead person smell, maybe mold, who the heck knows)> That is not a way to live, to numb yourself with new poisons to cover up other poisons. Another thing--don't know if I mentioned it on here, but along with not having carpet (but instead having ceramic tile or nice wood floors) I think one should frequently damp mop. Dust, because of what it's made of, carries a lot of the toxins in our environment--right into our lungs. I bet you if they did a study you could reduce your in home exposrue to anything greatly just with some healthy air circ and a lot of careful damp mopping. Since they KNOW stuff like phthalates get airborne on dust and in that way get into our systems, it must be true of most of the chemicals released into our homes, and even mold spores etc. > > Barb, > > This was a terrific find. Guest guest
Well, Dr Synderman is kind of 'jack of all trades' on subject of medicine on the Today Show- NBC, which means she probably doesn't have much in depth knowledge on any one thing, but I thought the link to the group in Boston was good. The fact that their research is showing that it is our environment, more than our genes, is interesting and something I think we here all suspect. However they said the people's genetic 'makeup' may predispose them to interact with the environment differently one to another, so it is the environment but also our predisposition to how we react to it, would account for our different reactions to things and also acknowledge environment is triggering it. That's what I got out of it anyway. Glad to see 'someone' is doing some research into that. > > Hey Barb thanks for that ref. Guest guest
I didn't know who she was (not a big television watcher). Yes there are wonderful scientists doing excellent work on the interaction btw genes and environment.
Guest guest
Speaking of EMF's, I thought I saw McCain once on Larry King after her stroke with other people that had difficulty with EMF's. Guess she is better now. Just remember that several years ago. -- - In , snk1955@... wrote: > > > In a message dated 10/23/2008 6:01:40 A.M. Guest guest
McCain had a reaction to EMF? That means that she probably has reactions to other things too. Perhaps like Bush and mold.. (not unusual for former teachers) No matter she lives way out in the desert.. Still, I would NOT expect much help from that direction. The rich are not like you and me. Did you read the big NY Times piece on her recently? Guest guest
Thanks Live for responding. I was just wondering. Not hoping for any help there. I didn't see the NY Times article.
