had asked for and were told would be forthcoming, week after

week.....?

Also, you might not be aware of this?

Local News Warning: Toxic Water in the City of Downey, CA

The area location they speak of below, is where Kaiser is

located....It may be that they didn't mention the problem " starting

at " the Kaiser area, since there are no public housing or businesses

in the path from Kaiser - to the 105 FWY, which is a VERY short

distance. They report the boundry to be as far South as the City

Limits, which is approx. 2 miles to the neighboring City of

Bellflower.

I recv'd a phone call on Thursday 09-25-08 at approx. 9:20 PM, from

a co-worker, XXXXXXX. He called to let me know of an alrming news

story he had just heard on the radio while on his way home.

" Downey Residents Warned About Bacteria In Water, DO NOT Drink the

Water! "

I told him it was just a little over a month ago I had spoken with

antother one of our co-worker's (XXXX), who said he and others had

become very sick. He told me he thought it was due to drinking the

water and that they were going to be checking it. When I called back

2 weeks later to ask if there was any news?? My Leadman said that -

XXXX was worng and it was all a misunderstanding!

During our chat Thusday eve. XXXXXXX and I discussed the 70 year

history of land, and he, living outside of the area, said he and

other co-workers were never told and was unaware of the Toxic

Conditions. I told him I live in the area and ONLY learned of the

Toxic Conditions, ONLY AFTER being made aware of others who had also

become terribly ill while working on the property and that some of

them had died. None of us knew of the TOXIC Conditions prior to

working on the property! I told him my husbands Aunt worked on the

Space Shuttle and recently died of Brain Cancer and it was in the

paper a few weeks ago another lady that had worked there also had

died of Brain Cancer. He told me he has recently been waking up every

morning with headaches and his wife's friend, who works also on the

property, has just recently within the past few weeks, been diagnosed

with Fibromyalgia but then the dianoses was changed quickly to

Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

The following morning I read more news announcements. The reports

claim the City of Downey knew about the contamination 3 days prior to

alerting the Public.

Only a small portion of Downey remains under the order today: a seven-

block wide rectangle formed by the 105 Freeway on the north,

Bellflower Avenue on the east, the southern city limit on the south,

and up to and including Fidler Avenue on the west, according to

Pomrehn.

I wondered where Fidler Ave. was located so I did a search:

Gee what seems to be the cause of Contamination ??? They DON'T

KNOW...hmmm, but it's downgradient from the Former NASA Facility/ NEW

Kaiser Permanente Regional Medical Center.

Since it's been weeks since I spoke with you XXXX, I called and spoke

with XXXXXX who is also with the XXX. I asked for an update regarding

the Facility, and she said she was aware it " IS " a Superfund Site.

She said she had no knowlege that XXX was currently involved with the

Site. She said she would check on details and get back to me.
