Guest guest
I do understand about your husband. Whoever that guy is telling you all that hokie pokie, dont spend another dime on or with him. He is full of it. You are wasting your time and money. It is very expensive but trust me. If you dont do it right the first time you wil end up spending so much more than if you did it is not funny. I can attest to that as well. I am only telling you things I know to be truth and that I have had to find out the hard way myself. I was lucky to have some family to help me through some of these mistakes but my worst fear it for someone to spend all they have and have no other option and have gained nothing, ESPECIALLY when there is a child involved. They cannot tolerate these toxins. Know that. You must find out from an expert, no others, and it will, yes I will not try to tell you it can be done cheap but like Dr. Thrasher once told my mom. Hey, we are dealing with a life here. Which is worth more? From: TheBeth <thebethinator@...> Subject: [] husband not believing... Date: Thursday, November 13, 2008, 5:57 PM well i took Dr.shoe makers test, and failed it... and I called the mold inspector today, since my husband was the one who talked to him when he did his visual inspection. And he told me that he can usually tell just by walking into a house if there is a mold problem or not because he has allergies and such and is usually very sensitive, but he said he felt fine in our house. I told him how it was making me feel which is how he described a few other people to be feeling in houses where he has found some pretty bad problems, and he said he can do air samples since he didn't get any visuals, but those start at three hundred and for each room I want sampled its another $150. and thats just to test, still doesn't tell us where the problem is. We have to get it done, though. Its either that or I just let my husband think I'm faking it becuase I " don't like the house and he doesn't make enough money " which is bull, I loved it until it started making me sick, and he just doesn't get when I tell him how I cant risk the chance that our daughter could be effected as well, because to him, he's fine, so we're fine. I soooo wish she could talk right now, just so I can ask her. Dont get me wrong, he's a great guy and has been a great husband and father (until this) which is why it would be so hard for me to leave him if I have to. Guest guest
Toxic mold grows in dark places where no sunlight can reach and where there is a water source like a leaking pipe or something, like inbetween walls, crawl spaces, basements, inside A/C units, ceilings etc. A competent mold checker/tester would not walk in and walk out without going into these hard to reach areas. You or someone has to go into all these areas mentioned above and check everything! From: TheBeth <thebethinator@...> Subject: [] husband not believing... Guest guest
There is no way that any human being could ascertain if a building had a mold problem simply by smelling it. But you should also keep in mind that even in houses that make people react, if the house is basically dry, there is a fairly good chance that most problems are fixable. So don't panic yet. Concern yes, panic, no.. If you can't find the problem with help from the better informed folks here, you might want to consider getting an ERMI test done, since you can do it yourself. It might be cheaper and if the comparison is to spore trap testing, (probably waht the " mold inspector " is pitching you) chances are it will give you a more accurate picture of the total health picture of mold in your house.. P & K is one of several companies that do ERMI, I don't know which one is the best deal..but they are professional. You just send them some dust collected using your vacuum cleaner. http://www.aerotechpk.com/AnalyticalServices/ERMI.aspx BTW, as you say, I'm assuming that your goal is problem assessment, not evidence for a lawsuit.. ( in which case you might want to hire a pro). Carl would be a good person to ask about that... Guest guest
I guess you don't have a basement. Sometimes it takes people that don't have any problems to understand at first. Ten years ago when I had never heard of indoor mold my husband didn't know what I was talking about either. I had trouble when we turned on the ac unit after living in a house for about 7 years and being fine. I would turn off the air and my husband would turn it back on. Then I got an allergic reaction and had to go to the hospital, then sinus surgury, asthma, etc. My first problem was being weaker than usual and head pain. Unfortunately after we moved we went to another place with mold. Eventually my husband had seizures and we both have problems with everyday fragrances, soaps, air fresheners, etc. now. In Florida they have people that have dogs that come inspect and try to find the mold.Is your roof ok? You don't see any evidence of water stains, mold spots or anything? But a good indication that there is a problem is when you feel much better when out and you get home and the smell hits you in the face when you get home and the symptoms start. There is a lot of info out there where you can show your husband how many articles there are about schools, hospitals, police stations. In Miami a judge died alledgedy from the mold in a court house and many people were sick that worked there. Senator wrote about it at his website some time ago. Does anyone have that article, not sure if I have it anymore but will try to find it. Sorry for your pain and the confusion of what to do. That is the sad part of this illness-- so many suffering and the lack of doctors that know, or just making others understand how much it hurts really all over your body at times. Bless you. --- In , LiveSimply <quackadillian@...> wrote: > > There is no way that any human being could ascertain if a building had > a mold problem simply by smelling it. > > But you should also keep in mind that even in houses that make
Guest guest
why not get an ERMI test done, it's only $175 from emsl.com (lab). google ermi to find out how useful it can be - good luck, Jackie > > well i took Dr.shoe makers test, and failed it... > and I called the mold inspector today,
Guest guest
Jackie, I went to emsl.com and went to fill out 'chain of custody form' and it asks for my company name and emsl representative. Should I just leave that blank or call them for directions. I have wanted to send a sample of mold and saw this post to Beth. --- In , " Jackie " <jackiedevries@...> wrote: > > why not get an ERMI test done, it's only $175 from emsl.com (lab). google ermi to find out > how useful it can be - good luck, Jackie > >
