Guest guest
, You should not take anymore than 2000 to 2400 mg a day of fish oil. Anymore and you could upset your stomach. If you find you can taste the fish oil put it in the refrigerator and take it when you eat. I don't have a problem with it but my son does, so this is what I read to do. It took 10 days for me to see a difference in pain. I buy the store brand or whatever is on sale. Go on line to Sundown or Natural Bounty and see if you can print a coupon out for their vitamins. I live in an area where we always have double and triple coupons, all the time, so that helps. Good Luck I hope this helps, -------------- Original message -------------- From: " " <jaayimee@...> Thank you. Because I'm having pain the book suggests I take 7.5 grams a day so with 1,000 mg tables I would take at least 7 a day and back off from there when things are under control. I'm going to give it a shot and see what happens. It also says that once the inflammation is under control to take a maintenance dose of 2-3 pills a day. I'm going to pick some up tomorrow, I'll let you know what happens. High doses of fish oil can't harm you can it? Wouldn't it be like eating a ton of fish? .............................. Hi , My knee was so painful I couldn't walk. One think I love to do and try to do everyday is walking. My friend who is great about vitamins told me to take fish oil. Within ten days of starting to take it, I was back out walking. My doctor suggested I take it twice a day to help with cholesterol. Which I do if I remember the second time. Hope you have luck with it. I take it twice a day also to help with cholesterol. I don't know if it does anything for my RA or not. I just take the kind that WalMart has. Guest guest
We buy or fish oil capsules at Sam's Club. Costco probably has them also. Sam's version leaves no fishy taste. Right now I am only taking one 1000mg capsule per day. Maybe should take another one to help with my cholesterol. Debbie L > > Is anyone taking high doses of fish oil and do you find it helps? Also, what kind are you taking and where do you buy it? I've been reading the Anti inflammation Zone and he's kind of making it seem that the ones you would get most places are unacceptable even though they are tested for mercury and purified. I'm really wanting to try this s was just curious if it's helped anyone here. > > > ____________________________________________________________ > Beauty School Programs - Get the career you've always wanted. Guest guest
I take a high dose for cholesterol + inflamation and it works for me. (9,000 mg - I break it down to 3 times a day) I get mine at Sam's. My RA doc suggested the high dose as it helps some people with inflamation. Ask your doctor first - don't try it on your own. It has helped my cholesterol to the point where I don't have to take a RX for it. deebs87 <dlohf@...> wrote: We buy or fish oil capsules at Sam's Club. Costco probably has them also. Guest guest
Thanks. I saw my gastro yesterday and he referred me to an RA. So I will wait to see him before I add anything. I also have to stop my ibuprofren so will just use pain meds when it's bad to help until I see him. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I take a high dose for cholesterol + inflamation and it works for me. Guest guest
Hi, My naturopath recommends Nordic Naturals Arctic Cod Liver Oil, because it is pharmaceutical grade, and has been 3rd party tested for heavy metals, dioxins, and PCBs. I don't think she has any financial interest. Here in Massachusetts, it cost me $21.95 for 8 fluid ounces. Hope that's helpful. Guest guest
Fish oil can be found at most health food stores and even at Walmart near their pharmacy. You can find regular fish oil, made mostly from anchovy, but I've heard it is not nearly as effective as cod liver oil or even better, salmon oil. I take salmon oil as a regular supplement for my RA, based on the recommendations of " Prescription for Nutritional Healing " by Phyllis and Balch. Aside from being good for your heart and cholesterol, fish oil increases production of anti-inflammatory prostaglandins. It is also known to slow the onset of fatigue. Over a dozen studies have shown that taking large amounts of Fish oil (2.5 to 5 grams a day) can mean fewer tender or swollen joints and reduce morning stiffness. Guest guest
Does your son have any IgG sensitivity to soy products? Plenty of the fish oils do contain some soy. If soy is an issue you have to carefully screen a lot of supplements. While some also may not CONTAIN soy directly, it can be as simple as the capsules being soy based, too. Check it out... Guest guest
+ You all are so great for responding. I have been in contact with the many natural health practitioners that have dealt with my son. We think he is lacking Calcium and Magnesium. All of them are in agreement to work with this for a couple of weeks to see if it resolves. He has other symptoms showing signs that he is lacking these minerals and he has poor digestion. It seems to have improved yet not completely. Will keep you posted. I took him off the oils for 2 days and he quit talking. I started him up again and he woke up the next day singing. That's a good sign! Thank you all!! Jane
