I wonder if that something else could be anything to do with the fact that both FB and Twitter have been so effectively used on mobile phones recently by dissident groups organising demonstrations and street violence against government policies and autocratic regimes. Some of these have ultimately let to the downfall of complete regimes, so perhaps the slow dawning of this reality could now be making authorities around the world start to quake in their boots and take evasive action? Guest guest
Hi , It's not a plot, just a glitch. But since this probably isn't an issue for the majority of members here, if you contact me off list at hfoisyca@... I will explain how to fix it. - Helen > > Beware anyone who uses a mobile phone to communicate with any FB groups! Guest guest
Right you are, ! This was recently evidenced to me when I was having a problem with Yahoo. Though initial contact with their technical help is only possible via the web, thereafter when they needed specific information they asked for it to be sent by fax, not email That being said, 's problem is a common experience with FB users; FB tend to reset defaults with frightening regularity, with unintended consequences to its subscribers - technically savvy or not. Therefore, if you are a FB subscriber (or of any other " free " social networking site) it's *always* a good idea to check *all* your settings, especially security settings, at least once a month. Hopefully 's problem has been resolved as we speak. - Helen > > Most folks don't realize how easy it is for unscrupulous hackers to hijack one's mobile electronics. With data mining, hackers can get just enough information about targeted users to spoof their carriers into account changes and denial of service. The mobile device industry has spent much less time assuring security and privacy on these devices than it has in assuring advertisers and folks who make money off the number of eyeballs viewing ads than most users realize. > > This is why professionals relying on privacy and confidentiality have not adopted wireless services as a significant means of communicating with their patients and clients. If you haven't noticed it already, just run a check to see how many professionals have given up land lines or the FAX process for secure and private communication with their clients and one another. Having both secure means of communicating increased my business costs--but not to a significant extent--before I retired and sold some of my consulting business's cost centers. > > There are hidden costs to some conveniences and the use of social media that many of us who've embraced certain kinds of social media uncritically haven't realized until we're bitten on the bottom by them. > N.
