Guest guest
Here is my encounter with a recent GOV. FUNDED DEAD END: What I'd like to know is WHERE IS THE MONEY GOING? -- RE: XXXXXX site Ms. XXXX, Your email to the California biomonitoring program was forwarded to me. I am the chief of the worker health investigation program in the California Department of Public Health. Our program has not been involved in the investigations of exposures or health problems at the XXXX site. However, I have learned that the National Institute for Occupational Health and Safety has been asked to evaluate the situation. Are there specific concerns/questions that you have? I can forward this information to them and also see in what way I can help. on, MD, Chief Occupational Health Surveillance and Evaluation Program (My Reply) Dear Mr. on, Thank You for your response. My concerns are mmy co-workers who have health issues, some have been told they have STRESS related illnesses. I was told the very same thing and I was forced to accept a STRESS diagnosis. Then they said I had an ADJUSTMENT DISORDER.(YA RIGHT) Over and over again I was being told I was depressed, and it was insisted that i take meds for depression. Over and over again, I was saying " NO, I am NOT depressed and something is wrong !! Severe dizzyspells, svere sleepiness, sevre pain, we were experiencing. My co worker was dropped to his knees in pain and taken away by ambulance. There have been Patients that have had fainting spells back to back! felt fine when they came into the clinic and passed out with vomiting! Another Patient came in and DIED. I worked at the new building just 17 months and then lost my muscle strenght and coordiantion. The pharmacy is located next to my department and while I was there waitng on my prescription there were 4 mistakes made in just a short time i was there with 2 patients YELLING at the workers saying making mistakes like that can kill people! whatever this sickness is, it is very very bad! My Employer and Healthcare provider is XXXX . They built our Out Patient 4 floor building on this property and while we were transferred they continued to build the HUGE hospital. I went out every morning to break down boxes and put them in the dumpster. I stood in a gray cloud of dirt that had billions of tiny silver sparkling particles. Can you tell me what it was I was breathing? They never told any of us abut of this land, and while I was the one with the greatest exposure in my Dept. and who became very ill, I learned there were many others whom had become extremely ill, since 2003 while they too were working on this property while remediation was taking place. Some of those workers are now DEAD, from Cancers to Suicides. Some of them said the ground or dirt was glowing. It is a strange illness inthat while your working you are very irritable, you don't realize that the air is affecting your thinking and behaviour and health! Myself and others have coma-like sleep. horrible memory loss. severe weakness. wight loss and some wheght gain. 1 coworker has excessive gas and really bad garlic breath. rashes and skin peeling and falling off. skin color changes. Bad shooting pains bone pains. I fell down 3 times because my legs kept getting weak. my co workers keep dropping things. I went to the Emergency room one day with my blood pressure 198/106. i normally have 118/70. Chest pain and breathing spasms. very very tired all the time . We need medical help. we are being denied medical care for our illnesses. Since i became sick and no longer able to work, I have just gotten worse day by day. My co worker called me on Sept 26 or 27 at night to tell me about the contaminated water the city repoetrd My co worker weeks before the Boil water order came out said he and others became very ill and thought it was the water. Then a week later XXXX said all the testing was a mistake and the water is good. BS!!! the residents say that the water stinks like rotten eggs. We had MAGGOTS coming up through our work sink drain!! My co worker said his wifes friend who also works on the property was told she had Fibromyalgia, but then they changed it to MS the next week. I and others are having tremors like PARKINSONS now. My skin stings constantly like i was dipped in an acid bath. my hands and feet are buzzing all the time.and i feel like i've been dropped froma 10 florr bilding. I so tired i can only stay awake a few hours at a time. Others i've talked to sound like me, we all have a terible time trying to talk. My hands sting badly when i type on my keyboard and sting bad when I hold the mouse. Can someone PLEASE HELP US ALL? Do a study on how many employees keep getting sick. I had the Flu really bad symptoms fever chills and every cell in my body hurt. How many times can you have the Flu- over and over and over again? a report was made to CAL-OSHA and they only told XXXX some were having only headaches and dizzyness. XXXX did an air study and said everthing was ok. BS!!! But they would change the HAVC filters more often. They passed out a paper with questions asking about symptoms. I asked osme coworkers I was working with that said they were short of breath , if they had put that down on the question sheet, they asked what question sheet? I turned my question sheet in along with another coworkers sheet and never heard anything back. I'm too tired to write more. Ms XXXXX, I will be sure to let the scientists from NIOSH know about your concerns. Our program here at the California Department of Public Health no longer has the staff to investigate complicated workplace health problems - and this situation you describe is certainly complicated and could involve checking the possible exposures and correlating them with any health effects. This entails surveys or examinations or statistical studies, and usually we need to do a lot of preliminary information gathering before we can even decide on what to do. If you have an individual problem or health concern, I recommend Dr Israel at UC Irvine, an occupational and environmental medicine physician. on, MD Our program here at the California Department of Public Health ??? I'd like to know what " Our Program " is? and just exactly who DO you provide Biomonitoring for? Where IS the STAFF? If you are not able to perform Occupational Health Surveillance and Evaluation for THE PEOPLE who are in the MOST NEED of this program, then why are OUR tax dollars STILL supporting YOU ???? Mr. on, MD, Chief of Occupational Health Surveillance and Evaluation Program. I wrote to NIOSH, they said they would get back to me within 30 days. That was over 60 days ago! You recommend Dr Israel at UC Irvine occupational and environmental medicine, and will SHE be able to evaluate, diagnose and treat the many sick individuals?? And who gets the bill for services, prescriptions etc.??? Many of us are no longer able to work, we're too sick!!! Ms XXXXX, The California Dept of Public Health has a program where we investigate work-related health problems among California workers. We do not have the staff or resources to follow-up at the XXXX site, so have referred you to NIOSH and may assist them as needed. Dr Israel and the UC Irvine staff should probably be able to answer your question about the billing arrangements there. on, MD So... here it is going on 2 weeks! NIOSH Hello...where are YOU???? What A * & $% JOKE > > > CFIDS Association President Kim McCleary Rips CDC Management of > > Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Research Budget > > November 7, 2008 > > > > ProHealth - Santa Barbara,CA,USA > > > > http://www.prohealth.com/library/showarticle.cfm?libid=14064 > > > > " You're all familiar with the infamous `Bridge to Nowhere.'
