Guest guest
Carl, Yes. I agree with your evaluation. Wondered if anyone would pick up on that. That came up on a google alert today. Yet, they quoted Dr. Portnoy from a paper he had written back in 2005, that the research was funded by Clorox and was focused on allergy. They also made it sound like Dr. Portnoy does not acknowledge the toxins of mold and company are a problem, only allergy is relevant. That's not true. Dr. Portnoy does acknowledge that irritant and toxic reactions may occur, just that allergic responses are more prevalent. And as an allergist/immunologist allergy is more his field of study in the matter. I am so tired of reading spinning for fun and profit! That article was about selling bleach, not Dr. Portnoy's understanding of the science, seems to me. Sharon K
Guest guest
Sharon, Selling bleach, other chemicals and the mold burning " purifiers. " There is a long history of citing medical opinions to sell products. Consider " 4 out of 5 dentists recommend... " or the cigarette ads from the 1950's where M.D.s promoted smoking. Some of the worst are the phamaceutical ads where reading the list of side effects takes as long as presenting the product in the context of sexual innuendo to distract us from the side effects. Some of the side effects are the same as what the drug is supposed to prevent. It will never end so we need to keep pluggin away just to keep up with the " spin.
