Guest guest
I had a landlord once who was in my community's " landlord hall of shame " . She was basically the cheapest landlord that I had ever seen, she drove a Mercedes 450 SEL around, owned many, many million dollar apartment buildings and basically, was a slumlord. She would go on vendettas against tenants if they complained about conditions to the city. As an example of her attitude, she claimed that she could not afford light bulbs for the hallways of her buildings. People would often find that the bulbs had burned out and they would remain dark until a tenant replaced one themselves. The managers would only last a short time because she was always firing them or they would quit. She was a real piece of work. There was a city office that deals with rental properties and they were kind enough to give me a printout of all the problems that they had had with her. It ran to around 250 pages. Back then those kinds of offices had the old style dot matrix printers and if they printed too many pages in a row they would shut off for a while because of a thermal overload. The people at the rentals office joked with me, saying that they didn't want to do that again because their hardware couldn't handle it! She was famous for being so incredibly evil. Sort of a Cruella DeVil of landlords. Even her commercial tenants were incredulous about her irresponsibility. When I moved out of there, I was so happy.
