Guest guest
My dad is 80 years old, He was living by himself in his home, I would see him about every 3rd day. He had home health once a week. Well he fell at his home in Sept 05 and fractured a vertabrae, then he fell again in Dec. 07 and reinjured it again, he came to live with me for a short time. He had vertebreoplasty and was doing great as far as his back goes. He stayed with me for about 1 month, then felt better and wanted to go home. Well I went to see him,it was March 07 to check on him and he was very confused, didn't know how old he was, what day it was, he knew who I was, a home health social worker showed up while this was going on, she had called him earlier for a visit and he couldn't tell her where he lived. She suggested I take him to E.R., tests showed he had a stroke and heart attack months before. Nothing now was going on, he stayed in ICU a few days while they ran tests. So he went back home to live by himself, again. On July08 I went to see him after work and his back door was open, the heater was on, we live in Louisiana and it is 98 degrees, the phone was off the hook, and he was sitting on the floor without anything on he had fallen again. He was confused again. I took him to hosp. and after tests neuro diagonosed him with LBD. He was confused in hosp. didn't know how old he was or where he was, he roamed the hosp floor all night. The Drs. do not want him home alone so he is living with me now, we have a sitter while I work. They started him on aricept 5 mg and increased to 10mg 4 weeks later which was Sun. I was doubting the neuro at first because since he has been with me, he seems fine, confused once in a while but not bad, somenights he roams my house, he uses a walker and I can hear him. Last night he dreamt the house was on fire and he was getting out with his dogs, What can I expect next?
