Guest guest
Robyn, I do not have Hashimoto's (so far as I know!) - but am on levothyroxine. Though never bad, my hair growth did improve a bit when I got to a sensible dose. And made a further significant leap on getting my vitamin D level up to a good place. Quality of hair, speed of growth, density and colour, all were noticeably better. Rod > > Hi everyone, > > I discovered I have Hashimoto's about a year and a half ago. My hair has thinned dramatically in the last 3 years and has NOT grown back yet, even though I'm on thyroid medication. I've been prescribed Synthroid .05 and from what I understand, Armour (or other natural thryroid) is better. I'm wondering if anyone has noticed improved hair growth at all after being on treatment? I've been on Synthroid and have not noticed any improvement. I plan on switching to Armour, but it is extraordinarily difficult to get ahold of, so I'm working on that. > > Thanks! >
Guest guest
I have Hashimoto's also and I am on my 3rd year of hair loss. It is so devastating. I have been on synthroid, Levo, compounded and Armour and now T3 only meds and the hair loss never lets up for a day. I'm anxious to see if anyone else chimes in with a success story. Guest guest
Hello robynfrazar, I'm Edith and my mother was diagnosed with hypo years ago ( about 20 ) she started to lose her hair to a point where she had bald spots the size of a dollar coin. Her hair did grow back but not completely she still has bald spots and the hair on her legs never came back either a long with other hair on her body that was about 20 years ago. I'm going through that now. Tho I don't have bald spots my hair has thinned greatly, and it's noticeable when I put it up in a pony tail, also the hair on my legs is all most gone all together. I told my doctor I was losing my hair all he said was “once we regulate your thyroid levels it'll grow back". I know from firsthand experience that, that is not true. When my mother started to loose her hair she did a little research and found out that is she took Spirulina it would stop the hair loss and I found out recently that B6/Biotin will also do the same thing so I’m going to hit the health food store and I’m going to get both. My mother and I are both taking the synthetic T4 and my doctor will not give me the natural and tried to convince me that the synthetic T4 is natural ( idiot ) I have Hashimoto’s.I hope I was helpful to you. Guest guest
Hi!I had tremendous hair loss on synthroid as well. My husband was so annoyed with cleaning out the drain clogs below the drain on a daily basis and couldn't understand how in the world I could loose so much hair. Once I switched to NDT (Natural Dessicated Thyroid such as Armour), my hair became thicker and I didn't shed anymore! It helped my body in many other ways too. Synthroid is wonderful for some people, but doesn't work on everyone. Good luck!
