They're battling black mold in the Hartford office. Black plastic sheets now cover parts of the Ohio County EMS building after dangerous black mold was discovered. Black mold often forms from water leaks or heavy moisture but right now nearly three-quarters of the building has been quarantined. The EMS said they're not sure where they're going to go from here. " We're not sure now. We're trying to get prices together if it's feasible to redo or build a new one, " said of Ohio County EMS. The parts of the building affected by the black mold were mainly living areas for crews working 24-hour shifts. The EMS center has set up a trailer for the next few months while the mold is removed. The Ohio County Health Department said black mold mainly affects people with preexisting respiratory conditions like asthma. The health department said the mold is not life threatening, and that currently there are no health codes dealing with black mold.
