I'm not sure but I recall reading somewhere that Augmentin, Doxycycline or

Zithromax are good. I have no idea where I read it, but wrote them down and

have them with my papers. Also have read that if you take a n antibiotic then

you should take a Probiotic 3 times a day while taking the antibiotic. Perhaps

someone else can help with this.

What antibiotics are safe to take for someone who is highly allergic to

molds including

candida?

It appears I have an infection on my foot and I need to be able to help the

physician pick an

antibiotic that will not cause undue problems. Most have no idea.......

Suggestions please?

Hi,

I had a fungal infection.. My medical doctor suggested a very strong acidopholus

or bifidopholus. She suggested all natural therapy of herbs and supplements to

rebuild the immune system. There are anti-fungal herbs. You need to find the

right combination for you. She believes that all antibiotics will cause

secondary infections and make the matter worse.

Even though I clearly mention that I cannot take any antibiotics in

the Myacin family due to previous uncomfortable side effects, they are

still pushing for me to take them.

Anyhow I safely can take Keflex. You could google it and see what

information it gives you. I have no side effects whatsoever. llaci

Don't know how good this antiobiotic is for your foot but they gave me

the Z-pak when I became allergic to penicillin, etc. And you don't

take as much as the other meds. Haven't had it for so me time, but

just a suggestion.

Keflex will work for an infection on your foot. It just happened to

my sister in law. Do you wonder why you got an infection on your foot

and not elsewhere? It says an infection will start up on skin where

there are scratches or dry cracked skin. llaci

Keflex is not made from a mold off spring of sorts?

No, I don't wonder why I have an infection on my foot.

So you had a yeast infection. Mine is not a yeast infection. Not a fungal

infection. Just an infection. However, I am allergic to most molds and do not

want to take an antibiotic that will worsen my allergies.

All infections are not fungal.

I am more worried about what it is made of than the side effects.

Thanks, however, this is not a fungal infection. Just a normal one, but will

need antibiotics to help it go away.

Keflex keeps coming up. I will do some research on that. Usually antibiotics

don't give me thrush, but many are made from mold products.

Keflex is one of the " big guns " and should only be used as a last resort. One

doctor told me that Keflex can have very bad side effects.

I am now reading that it is somehow " kin " to Penicillin. Says something to the

effect that if you cannot take penicillin then you will probably have a reaction

to keflex. Says it is made from cephalosporin mold. Hummmm.... Frustrating

The best way to find out what kind you need is to have a doctor to

take a culture of your infection. Certain antibiotics will only work

for certain infections.

If you need an antibiotic, by all means don't be fearful of taking

one. The issues come in due to the over use of antibiotics or taking

antibiotics when they are not needed. Just make sure you take an

acidophilus or a good probiotic supplement. I took one from the

health food store in capsule form as well as ate plenty of yogurt and

drank buttermilk.
