Guest guest
Barb, I cannot tolerate any vinyl. Period. I had to find non-vinyl flooring because by the time the odor goes away - with age or heat - the vinyl becomes hard and begins cracking. Which means I need new vinyl. Some people can tolerate vinyl but not latext. A.dental hygienist I used to go to had a latex allergy so she wore vinyl gloves. But I was reactive to vinyl so what protected her harmed me. And what protected me harmed her. The solution was for her to wear vinyl for her protection, but wear latex over them for my protection. We are all different and each of us has to find what works and what doesn't - for ourself. Even if we are the only one in the world who has that problem, that is what we must discover and what we must do. Guest guest
Vinyl is BAD. Just bad-don't do it. Check out natural linoleum tiles and make sure the glue they use is a non-toxic one-they are available. Guest guest
Interesting. It probably will be pretty bad because I have 800 sq ft to cover, so if I notice the smell of small samples, I imagine the house will be pretty smelly after 800 sq ft of it is laid!! I bought an air bed that was smelly but I was able to leave it outdoors until it didn't smell but won't be able to do that with flooring and no telling how long it will take for odor to be gone. Back to the 'planning board'. --- In , " Carl E. Grimes " <grimes@...> wrote: > > Barb, > > I cannot tolerate any vinyl. Period.
Guest guest
Linoleum would be good but I'm not considering anything that needs glue to put down since it is temporary flooring. I might have to consider large area rug even though I had hoped to do without carpeting. Maybe those will smell also? --- In , " surellabaer " <surellabaer@...> wrote: > > Vinyl is BAD. Guest guest
Try Marmoleum, it is a natural product - my nose is broken so I can't be sure about the smell but I had no reaction to it. Guest guest
Thanks This is a good suggestion. Does anyone have any ideas for ***stairs? Hard flooring on stairs seems may be more slippery and dangerous. My pets are slipping around on them. Is there anything people have used on stairs they are happy with? Low pile synthetic carpet or runner or other ideas? Thanks --- In , " Jackie " <jackiedevries@...> wrote: > > Try Marmoleum, it is a natural product - my nose is broken so I can't be sure about the smell > but I had no reaction to it. > > Jackie >
