Vinyl Flooring - good or bad????????

I pulled up carpeting in my house and wood floors are not in good

condition so I have been looking at vinyl flooring samples and notice

samples have an odor and so now wondering...chemicals, odors...is that

what I will have with wall to wall vinyl? I guess answer is obvious

but perhaps someone else has done and odors doesn't last long???
