Guest guest
Please, when are you people going to learn? The only thing different is the name of the suspicious file. OTHERWISE, THIS IS JUST PERFECT BOILERPLATE LANGUAGE, DATING BACK TO AT LEAST 2002. DON'T BE FOOLED, PLEASE. Biff Byrum FW: READ IMMEDIATELY Anyone-using Internet mail such as , Hotmail, AOL and so on. This information arrived this morning, Direct from both Microsoft and Norton Please send it to everybody you know who has access to the Internet. You may receive an apparently harmless e-mail titled 'Mail Server Report' If you open either file, a message will appear on your screen saying: 'It is too late now, your life is no longer beautiful.' Subsequently you will LOSE EVERYTHING IN YOUR PC, And the person who sent it to you will gain access to your name, e-mail and password. This is a new virus which started to circulate on Saturday afternoon. AOLhas already confirmed the severity, and the anti virus software's are not capable of destroying it. The virus has been created by a hacker who calls himself 'life owner'. PLEASE SEND A COPY OF THIS E-MAIL TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS, And ask them to PASS IT ON IMMEDIATELY! THIS HAS BEEN CONFIRMED BY SNOPES. http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/mailserver.asp
Guest guest
It's listed on snopes as legitimate. What are we to look for? You say only thing that is different is name of suspicious file. What name should we look out for? --- In , " Biff Byrum " <bbyrum9@...> wrote: > > Please, when are you people going to learn? Guest guest
Biff, Would you explain more? apparently looked it up on Snopes before posting it. We have not posted this before, so not sure why you said 'we never learn here', but I'd like to learn. How can we tell when to take these notices seriously, and when not to? Thanks " Biff Byrum " <bbyrum9@ wrote: > > > > Please, when are you people going to learn?
Guest guest
I would like to add, I am takeing offence to the tone this reply takes. I recieve daily reports from a government source of new threats and check them out anyway I can. Due to my personal experience with dangerous emails, files etc. I dont take many chance. Further more My dad as a programer is even more thourogh in verifying anything sent to him. In this case he sent this one to me. Biff if you had comments about it I have no problem with that but I take your tone as an insulting slap in the face, especially since you provide no sources for your disregard as this being a serious threat that is only meant as an FYI warning since the most of us use these services. I will refrain from doing so in the future for this reason alone. I would greatly appritiate this be posted. Thank you... Sickbuilding Syndrome should be one of your greatest concerns. www.biotoxin.info Please, when are you people going to learn?
Guest guest
It is not necessary for people here to know much about computers or viruses. This is a health support group. If you know this is not a threat, thanks for telling us, but no reason to be rude about it. We can use help in knowing if there is a virus threat, even if it turns out to be a mistake. Better safe than sorry. Just post a link to reliable source that tells that it isn't threat to be helpful but leave the insults out. > > That's fine with me, since you happened to be the one to bring this up in > the first place. If it sounded like a slap in the face, so be it. you > wouldn't be the first person I've taken on concerning false warnings like > this.
