Guest guest
The simple fact that it was sporulating means that it was dying. Were the mold mats drying out? Or maybe some mice or cockroaches were waking around inside of the walls? Did you do any toxin tests of any bulk samples from inside the walls? Guest guest
a, My first test showed 64. I have found, felt and heard nothing possative about it if that tells you anything. That cannot be good. Hi guys, Looking for some feed back. the air sample showed that was taken showed over 3,000 spores per cubic meter out of those were 80 airborne stachy spores. Any thoughts?? a
Guest guest
a, I'm sure you know what I'm going to say so here is a short version. I would not expect Stachybotrys spores in the air without a source somewhere. Which means long term dampness, often with elevated yeast levels, depending on the materials involved. Long term dampness is usually better (and more quickly) identified by moisture measurements and observation than by after-the-fact mold sampling. If long term dampness occurs then the moisture needs to be stopped, materials repaired, and mold removed whether it is Stachy or any other kind of mold (or bacteria, etc) known or unknown. There is key information needed before a couple of numbers can be interpreted. When, where, why, by what methods? Was mold visible or only suspected? On what materials? Was the Stachy location high up so the spores would fall downward or coming from inside walls or from the floor disturbed by human activity? Or were they in or near the forced air ducting? Were the samples collected in the living space or the attic or the crawlspace or a damp storage area? In an area near the dampness or far from it? Calm air or disturbed air? Can you provide some detail either here or privately? Guest guest
Hi folks, I might be responding out of context since I didn't catch what led up to this question, but for concentration of stachybotrys in the air, for example, my son's bedroom, had a raw spore count of 121 1610 spores/cubic meter This level was achieved via the fact that: * the exterior wall was moldy from water damage - bad construction and uncaulked light fixtures on a wall that gets the driving rain. * southern exposure and a heater vent on the inside probably caused some convection to dry them out and suck them into the room * I inadvertently had often used an air filter (which I pushed near that wall) to " clean " the room - so I probably just sucked them out and spread them around. And, if it's of any interest, the mold was found " accidentally " as I never smelled anything, and attributed my son's problems to Lyme et. al.. I only found the water damage after having the entire house checked because I smelled something musty in the entry way, and thought, why not have everything checked? Guest guest
Just in case the question was regarding harmful levels, I believe that when I consulted with Dr. S in Florida, even 5 spores of Stachy were " too many " and harmful.
