We are working with Dr , pediatric lyme specialist in New Haven,

CT. Orion is on omnicef for borrelia, mepron for babesia and now

septra for bartonella, all concurrently. He will be on each of these

for a minimum of 6 months and more likely more than a year.

Bartonella is closely associated with encephalitis (autism) and

appraxia. The treatment for bartonella is often zithromax and

rifampin for a minimum of 6 months (a year is better) but rifampin

cannot be given with diflucan or with mepron, so currently we are

treating with septra (2nd line defense). Bartonella is very hard

to dx b/c the tests are all often false negatives. There is a

photographic blood smear test from the fry labs in sdale, AZ

that seems to be much more accurate. I know lots of parents are

afraid of antibiotics, but if you have seen good results while using

them in the past, I would recommend that you look into lyme,

bartonella, strep and mycoplasma as an ailment in yourself and your

child.
