Guest guest
Barb, The advertising and spin continues to evolve. Two primary objections to all such chemical products is they only last until the surface gets wet again -or- they are such an effective barrier to moistures that it holds it in the wood creating wood rot. The claims of this product include it forms a permanent barrier on the surface (won't wash away) and it lets moisture migrate through it (preventing wood rot). Are these really true? The news article is about the first house using it. So nobody will know for several years. Other questions: They say they use EPA registered anti- microbials in the mixture. But they don't say the mixture is EPA registered. They don't address the most fundamental characteristic of all surfaces of any kind, which is the accumulation of dust and other " stuff " on the surface which is food for mold and bacteria. A little dampness and the " stuff " grows. Unless this product is self cleaning like butterfly wings, I don't expect it to last any longer or work any better than all the other " stuff. " But perhaps I'm wrong. Guest guest
I noticed it didn't seem to have a " track record " yet. Description reminds me of those spray foams, like Iycene, because they say that moisture can wick it's way through but it insulates. However Iycene surface would not be washable. Just thought I would put the info here. It came in a Google alert I have on 'mold issues'. Thanks --- In , " Carl E.
