Guest guest
Hi , From your reading, you may remember that eosinophils are very involved in allergic response, as stated in your friend's letter. That however doesn't guarantee that mold or other environmental exposure is the cause of your friend's problem. But the possibility isn't eliminated either. Your friend mentioned that she suffers from asthma and chronic sinusitis. A Mayo Clinic paper several years ago suggested that more than 90% of chronic sinusitis involves fungal colonization of the sinuses. Her doctor can sample intra-sinus fluid and have it tested for fungus. If positive, the environmental relationship to her condition would be re-enforced. And, as many of us know from personal experience, prolonged exposure to high levels of mold can lead to sensitization and initiate asthma or make existing asthma worse. Attention to personal environment, at home, work, places of worship, businneses we patronize, etc. is a good idea for anyone, but particularly for anyone mold sensitized or otherwise immune sensitized. I was wondering if anyone of you has heard of this disease and if perhaps it would be related to environmental issues. Thanks a lot cathy
Guest guest
Make sure the fungi culture set for at least 8 weeks. Most labs don't run the culture long enough. Also make them do a wash of your sinuses, a swab could miss it. It did mine and a year later I blew out a chunk(dime size) of multiple species of pennicilium. and they say it can't colonize............ Guest guest
a, How did you know what you had, when the penicillin came out? A friend of mine knows someone who had a fungal ball surgically removed from his sinuses not long ago. > > Make sure the fungi culture set for at least 8 weeks. Guest guest
Considering, up until the last month. very sledom did I have a need to blow my nose. Lucky I cuaght it. I put it in an envelope. the molds attached itself to the envelope in less than an hour and had new gray fuss growing off of it. Dr Gray sent it off to realtime labs. It took over the petry dish in less than 2 weeks. They called it very aggressive. Prior to it coming out, I had a lot of pain in that left sinus. Guest guest
I was housed in a very sick building for work. (stachy, alternaria, fusarium just to name a few) I was only there for 3 weeks. My duaghter got sick just from cross contamination from my clothes and luggage and towels from the condo. The toughest part about this is doing everything in your power to get better and take care of a sick child while your brain decides to take a vacation becuase of all the mycotoxins swishing and pumping around your brain....... Guest guest
Man can I sympathize and tell you I could not do it. My sisters children have been here for a week, leaving in the morning. I love them so much yet cannot spend more than a few min. here and there without a retreat. This is a new one on me because I have not had to be around any children for some time but I do feel for the parents in this situation for sure. The puzzle is put together!! thats just more proof. Guest guest
There is a lot on PubMed on the various hypereosinophilic syndromes. Many of them seem relevant to mold hypersensitizations. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?term=hypereosinophilic
