Guest guest
My daughter has a large tongue. At birth she did stick out her tongue for a good while. She is now 3.5 months old and I have to say it is getting better. She often sleeps with her peeking tongue out. The OT has suggested giving her a pacifier to help push in the tongue but she hates the pacifier. She has a very strong suck and has really never had a problem feeding. She latched on the first 2 months to breast feed and since then has decided she did not like the texture of the nipple. She mouths lots of toys and has the tendency to suck on her hands. (Wait a minute that a is a milestone! I just thought about that as I am writing. Woo-hoo!)I try at times to fool her with a pacifier but there is no fooling her. I give her cheek and mouth massages. The OT said on her last visit that she has tongue control because when she sticks it out, she moves and curls it to catch her hands or toys and it is just not hanging out floppy. What else can I do to help her? Does it eventually get better? At what month do kids start teething? My husband has a large tongue, do you think it could be her MDS or just plain old trait from my husband? At what age should I see a change? I hope that anyone that has experienced this with their child to please reply.
