Well, I had Tyler's IEP today. Boy, it went just as I thought it

would. I had a new chairperson, someone who I have NEVER met and

does not know Tyler at all. His teacher, Mr. Bimbo said that Tyler

should stay in spirit 1 next year. They did confirm for me that the

kids are kept apart form the other children to " protect " them. I

then asked " What, you do not want the other kids to see that there

are children different from them in school? " They responded by

saying they keep them apart so the other kids don't make fun of the

kids in the spirit class. I went on and on about how keeping them

apart is adding to the other kids making fun of them. One day they

will find out that not everyone is the same. Show them that when

they are young and they will be able to accept it better. The only

teacher that thought that he could handle a regular class was his gym

teacher. In fact, the gym teacher wants Tyler to sign up for track

next year. I then asked what kind of jobs the kids in spirit 1 have

get when they are older. I answer I got, " Many different kinds of

jobs in many different places. " Yea yea yea, WHAT KIND OF

JOBS!!!!!! After getting the run around for ten minuets, they

finally said jobs stocking shelves at stores or flipping burgers at a

fast food place and jobs like that. Last year they were talking

about Tyler working on computers, not stocking shelves. They did not

believe me when I said that Tyler took a step back this year. His

teacher was like, " Tyler is now adding 4 digit numbers. " I quickly

pointed out that he was doing that last year. Well, long story

short, they will NOT put him is spirit 2 at all. Looks like I am

calling the chairperson from last year and asking her if there is

another school that I can put Tyler in, I had talked to her right

before the meeting. She can not believe that Tyler was put in spirit

1 and not 2. That is where I left saying that I have lots of phone

calls to make.
