(Supplied) A Hobart couple have been forced to leave their unit in a retirement home because of a mould problem. An environmental consultant was called in to inspect the problem in a unit at the Derwent Waters Residential Village in Claremont. Don Maisch told the the owners of the unit the mould, caused by rising damp was so bad, it was un-inhabitable. " It was out of control, a lot of moisture coming up from underneath, " he said. Mr Maisch said the couple were concerned the mould was making them sick. They eventually moved out after coming to a legal settlement with the managers of the village, the FKP Property group. The unit has since been cleaned, the carpets pulled up and it has been put back on the market. FKP says it will discuss the option of a major refurbishment with any prospective tenant.
