Guest guest
I only have the printouts and cannot remember where I got them from. I will try to figure it out though. Guest guest
I saw a good article yesterday about how the body detoxifies almost everything via the cytochrome P450 enzyme system. It uses aflatoxin B1 as an example of the detoxification of a xenobiotic. All mycotoxins are xenobiotics... The exposures add up and even just that alone can overload the body's detoxification pathways ... http://www.aapsj.org/view.asp?art=aapsj080112 Cytochrome P450s and Other Enzymes in Drug Metabolism and Toxicity F. Guest guest
That's interesting because the only medication I take is a benzodiazepene and it seems to me I read somewhere that they disrupt the P450 enzyme system. I will look up more on this. Thanks. --- In , LiveSimply <quackadillian@...> wrote: > > I saw a good article yesterday about how the body detoxifies almost everything > via the cytochrome P450 enzyme system. Guest guest
Stop it already. I am still trying to learn micotoxin now xeno what... lol I dont think I would have done to well in biology or whatever it is you learn all this type stuff. Seems so incredibly complicated I saw a good article yesterday about how the body detoxifies almost everything via the cytochrome P450 enzyme system. Guest guest
Barb, Your talking about xanax or Valium type medicine. I take xanax so clearly I am now curious. Are you saying taking this type medicine keeps something from working right? IE keeping this enzyme system from healing something? I would find this interesting that that would not be considered in many applications. Again, I would love to think I could figure all of this stuff out, or should I say understand but it can get so complicated so fast. There are a number of things to consider in everything that goes into our bodys. I of course dont say that lightly... Guest guest
Yes, there are about a dozen benzo medicines and one of them is Xanax. All are decendents of sort of valium. Benzos are a shorter acting, less addicting -supposedly-, version of valium, anti-anxiety medicines. I Googled it and came up with some info on P450 and benzos. If I find something clear, I'll send it directly to you. I did see where they don't recommend 'azole' type of antifungals be taken with benzos but it says it may increase blood levels of benzos...which sounds good to me!! Anyway, I will forward any of that to you also. > > Barb, Your talking about xanax or Valium type medicine.
Guest guest
You are exactly right about the benzo family. I wonder why then there is no warning of such in any warnings of side affects. They make sure you know not to dring grapfruit juice with xanax but they dont put that warning with the other benzo medications. It is supose to have that same type affect which I have never experienced but never the less. Why would it not be just as important to warn of this other side affect or that with some antifungals there would be the grapefruit affect (ill call it) Now this may or may not make any sence but here I find myself talking about several different things. Grapefruit seed extract is supose to be good for detox of mycotoxins, correct. If this other enzyme thing also helps rebuild or remove then what this is telling me is xanax and or other medications I or we dont know about could be keeping healing from happening?? Guest guest
I haven't really studied the benzo, P450 issue but I think there is some affect of the P450 doesn't allow the benzos to be 'cleared' as fast as they should, so longer half life, which if you take alot could mean you would overdose more easily. I don't take much so if it made it last longer, I think I would like that. The material I read on gov med site listed a warning about 'azoles' and benzos. It probably would be more an issue if you took a benzo all day. Some people take it say three times a day for panic disorder. Then how fast it cleared your system would have a big impact. However it did say you can take antifungals, just cautioned about the 'azoles'. I think if you take just at bedtime or something, it probably wouldn't be a problem but then you would ask a doctor of course. > > You are exactly right about the benzo family.
