I saw Dr. Eckardt Johanning (www.fungalresearchgroup.com; 518-459-3336) starting

in 2002. His office was in Albany, NY (you can take a train from NYC), but he

also had days when he worked out of an NYC office. When I saw him, his focus

was primarily on the research. He was the first doctor that I saw that

understood.....ran test that identified what the problem was (exposure to toxic

mold) and was able to show that all of my varied symptoms did have a common

source. He started me on antifungals and cholestyramine (I didn't tolerate it

well, so he switched me to welchol). This was back in 2002 / 2003.

Dr. Shoemaker is also fantastic. I just wish he had a more convenient office

location.

I think Welchol is excellent. It also has the benefits of lowering

blood sugar and cholesterol (which is what is was designed for.)

Dr. Johanning knows exactly what he is talking about.
