My Mother takes provigil- we started at the 25 and increased to 50.

If we go up from that she gets nervous/jittery. It is a drug you can

move up or down. So you could try the 50 in a couple of weeks and see

if he gets more alert or not. It does help her alertness and energy

level.

Dear Dianne -

So glad to hear your dad may be experiencing a positive response to the Pro. I'm

very conservative re meds and take my time with changes. I waited about 3 weeks

before moving my mom from the first dosage level to the next. Then I increased

only by 25 mg. and again waited several weeks.  I saw some, but not major,

changes at the first and second dose levels. So it was worthwhile increasing,

but I always do it in smaller increments than the protocol says.  Of course you

should be guided by your dad's MD - and by your own knowledge of how he is doing

- when you decide how much to increase. Your timetable of a couple of weeks

makes sense - it permits observation over a longer course of time and will give

you an idea of how his body is adjusting to the new med.

Sharon referenced her mom and sensitivity to meds, and many of our loved ones do

experience that. So it makes sense to go forward - just cautiously. I

really hope your dad does well - please let us know.

Hugs,

Lin
