Guest guest
Thanks, I wish there was a list of foods to eat and foods to avoid some where. My husband is 6'4'' and eats all the time and takes his lunch to work. He has just been diagnosed with Lyme and Dr. S told him to go on the non amylose diet. I'm just crazy trying to come up with things for him to eat so he won't starve. He's a snacker and a big man. Can you drink diet sodas, crystal lite, yougert, canned veggies if you dont have frozen? I guess all meats, cheeses, veggies (except below the grd.) corn chips. Any other ideas I would greatly appreciate. Thanks, Sue I believe the no amylose diet is avoiding foods grown in the ground, carrots, beets, potatoes, yams, but you can have red potatos. (thank god for that one cause I get sick of rice) The rest is about avoiding sugars. It it also helpful to go organic as much as possible. K **************Why pay full price? Guest guest
Ahhhh! Stop feeding him processed foods. Sodas are poison, diet sodas are even worse. No more genetically engineered food like soy bean and corn. No canned foods. Lyme's disease, MS, Leukemia and Cancer are due to poor diet that compromises the immune system. It debilitated the body and allows toxins and chemicals to attack it! You probably don't want to hear this but dairy and wheat are also bad. You can reverse the disease by stengthening the immune system. Water is also very important. No more flurinated water its poison and keeps the body from healing. Research what I'm saying. You're on the right track with no sugar and yes to organic. It's tough to eat right and stay healthy. I've seen people with " incurable " diseases get cured - It was not the Dr.s that did it. Dr.s want people to be sick...... ________________________________ From: " ssr3351@... Guest guest
Thanks, very much. I have the book but we were looking for some different ideas. I thought deli meat was okay to eat? Sue My doctor put me on the no amylose diet for thirty days a few months ago while I was taking CSM for detox. I bought the book " Lose the weight you hate " by Dr Ritchie C. Shoemaker, MD found at _http://www.moldwarrhttp://wwhttp://www.http://www.http://wwhtt_ (http://www.moldwarriors.com/books/lose-the-weight-you-hate.htm) which describes in great detail what is and is not allowed in the no amylose diet. The book even offers recipes for making foods without amylose. It took some getting used to because you are not suppose to eat any vegetable that grows below the ground (I never seen anything about red potatoes being ok) or grains except corn (rice is a grain and is specifically listed as a food to avoid). Fruits are ok except for bananas. No pasta and breads except for corn mush made with pure corn meal. It has been a few months ago and do not remember exactly what all is avoided but it is all covered in the book. I know I ate a lot of cheese and steamed cauliflower. I know my doctor said not to eat anything with high fructose corn syrup, sugar, fructose or sucrose which leaves out pretty much anything you can buy premade including luncheon meat. The good news is once I got used to the diet, it was very fulfilling and I did feel better. I don't follow the diet now but I do pay attention of how much amylose is in my diet. Good luck, mcsisreal **************Why pay full price? Check out this month's deals on the new AOL Shopping. Guest guest
He did the round of antibiotics with no results. Saw Dr. Shoemaker on Tues. and are following his protocol now. Actos for 5 days and non amylose diet then on day 5 he begins the CSM. I don't have a Whole Foods but I did bake a chicken and made a veggie wrap. Lettuce filled with cheese, chicken, tomato, and snow peas! Seemed to work well. Also packed a big bag of corn chips, apple, & grapes. I found a nurse who has been on the same diet and med from Dr. S. She has helped a lot with ideas of things to eat. I found sugar free yougert at WalMart, sugar free pudding, salsa, and lots of fruit and veggies. Hard for him since he's a tall man who like to eat and never puts on weight. We'll make it put it will take some getting used to. Guest guest
There are a few companies. One that I know of is Applegate Farms. They don't use msg, nitrates, some of there meats are organic and I think only the ham has sugar in it. Otherwise they are sugar free, I believe. It is still processed food, but far better than most. I googled the name to be sure of how it is spelled and came up with this link if you want to check it out. I usually buy it at the local health store. There is at least one other brand too, that never uses any sugar. Can't recall the name though. Sam I never found any deli meat which were not packaged in high fructose corn syrup. Guest guest
Francis Simun bakery in Dallas makes a variety of yeast-free specialty breads and bagels and bagel chips. You can choose from a selection of bean flour only breads and bagels. They are preservative-free and must be kept in the freezer or fridge. They are a bit pricey, but can add a carb-like treat to a limited diet. There website appears to be under construction, but there is a phone number and email address listed: http://www.francissimunbakery.com/. I have ordered the following breads and bagel chips over the years: garbanzo, pinto, navy bean, black bean and kidney bean. They are made from bean flour, water and salt. It takes about 2-4 weeks to have an order shipped. Of course if you live in the area, you can pick them up at the bakery. Saralee Rosen homerose@... Guest guest
I don't know except that Dr. S said all veggies except those that grow below the ground. No peanuts. All fruits except bananas. No wheat, oats, barley, rice, mainly starch. He can have meat, veggie, corn products, fruit, cheese, milk and other stuff I can't remember right now. I did find corn wraps that will be great for lunch. He can also eat salsa, lots of water, coffee, diet soft drinks (which he rarely drinks), sugar free pudding. He won't starve but it's hard to find things so he doesn't get board eating the same old things. He can eat tuna and mayo so I can make tuna & chicken salad. It just takes some time to think of things. I did find a health food store not too far from home so I'll have to check it out. For the no-amylose diet, would that also include avoiding enzymes that have amylose in them? **************Check all of your email inboxes from anywhere on the web. Try the new Email Toolbar now!
