Guest guest
I had unexplained weight gain at first. Not eating any different. Then I suddenly took it all off and then some. I went from 116 up to 147. Then I dieted as I normally would to take off weight which usually would take any extra weight off but it wouldn't come off, so I got stricter and strickter with my diet because I had small frame and 147 is just too much. I got to the point where I wasn't eating any carbs at all. Very strict. I went down to about 130 and I couldn't get any more weight loss. Then all of sudden it started to come off without changing my diet any and next thing I knew I was sick and had cancer. Very early stage found accidentally in surgery for something else. My own analysis is that Body started to hold weight on when I became toxic to store toxins in fat, and when I dieted too much, it drove toxins out of fat and into organs. No way of knowing of course, but that's what I think. Once cancer started, cancer will use your food for it's own survival and thus the weight loss. I started to eat every chance I could get, not alot of starches but good food but I still lost weight/couldn't gain it back. I'm back to my normal weight now. Hopefully I can stay like this, stay out of water damaged buildings and away from high exposures to other toxins and have better health. I'm not saying you have cancer though! Other diseases can cause you to lose weight. Too much Candida or other intestinal condition or pancreatic trouble or many other things can cause you to not absorb nutrients from the food you eat. Intestional problems, disturbed microbiology of gut, is frequent w mold exposure. You can look up weight loss in 'wrong diagnosis' to find alot of other reason for unexplained weight loss but I think unexplained weight loss is more serious than unexplained weight gain. --- In , " Judy " <judyw22@...> wrote: > > That's interesting that you lost weight, too. Guest guest
Hi Barb, You've been through a lot! So glad you are getting better now, and let's hope for continued better health. What happened with your weight sounds similar to me. Yes, I had gained some weight before I lost weight, too. One thing that could explain the weight changes for me is that I've had hypothyroidism for many years, and that can contribute to weight going up and down. It seems that being exposed to mold really threw my thyroid off, too. Another explanation for the weight loss: about 1.5 yrs ago I eliminated gluten and dairy from my diet. That will automatically cause someone to lose weight, because with that diet you are eating zero desserts, zero cheese, yogurt, butter, very few grains, almost no bread items. (I later found out that food intolerance is one of the symptoms of mold exposure.) I noticed that the weight loss did start soon after that, and while my thyroid was out of whack at the same time. A few months after that was when our dog died, which was devastating to me and to my son, and I think being so upset from that further contributed to weight loss. And yes, I've suspected candida, too, due to symptoms I've had. I agree with the idea of weight loss due to not absorbing nutrients. That has been my hunch for a while--that the inability to gain weight had been due to not being able to absorb nutrients. What tests did you have for cancer? I know I had a test about a year ago (while still living in the moldy place--like I said, we moved out 6 months ago) and on that my white blood count, and everything else, was fine. I think it was a CBC, and the main thing that was " off " on that labwork was my thyroid. If someone has cancer, do they get sicker and sicker until they get treatment? In our case, we've been getting steadily better since moving from the moldy house. Appetite better, no nausea, little anxiety/depression, almost zero hair loss, much better energy and little fatigue, more color in our skin (we were so pale and even yellowish looking), etc. Re: Weight loss with mold exposure Posted by: " barb1283 " barb1283@... barb1283 Sat Jan 31, 2009 8:49 pm (PST) I had unexplained weight gain at first. Guest guest
I wish I had lost weight. The inflammation contributed to weight gain. Still have not gotten it all off, but have lost enough for people to remark. > > That's interesting that you lost weight, too.
Guest guest
I'll have to dig up some records to ask your questions about tests I had. I had one that I paid for myself that was supposed to test for indicators of cancer that came back with result of borderline, which turns out to be right on since I had very early stage cancer, not even recognised during surgery but pathology found it later with extra examination of surgery samples. Anyhow in your last paragraph they symptoms you mentioned are very good sign of getting better. Those are symptoms I had after removing myself from unhealthy atmosphere. Very much increased appetite, increase in energy, slept better..I could go on and on. I returned to fixed house and feel not as good as I did but did not return to very sick feeling I had, but it has become apparent that it left me with heightened sensitivity to pathogens and allergens both, so I need very, very pristine environment to feel good. I temporarily stayed in an apartment that I tested first somewhat and I felt very sick there, but other people living there seemed fine but it had odors in lobby and basement. I didn't notice any odor in apartment when I looked at it but people were cooking something, so perhaps masked it. Anyway, point is that nobody there looked ill. I cleaned up apartment very well and put tape over any opening and air cleaner in it and that did the trick. However I stood in the doorway of person next door a couple of times to talk, and apartment didn't smell good but person who lived there was obviously healthy, so now *it is me. I can't tolerate any uncleanliness. I have a very old house. I don't know if I can ever get it clean enough. ANYWAY, I will get back to you about tests I had that were helpful. Mainly I had EXTREME fatigue. Could hardly keep my head up. Better word would be unusual WEAKNESS. Barb --- In , " Judy " <judyw22@...> wrote: > > Hi Barb, > You've been through a lot! Guest guest
I did go on a low carb diet, no sugar, white flour. That took me from 147 down to 130-132 but that was still high for my body size. I really think my body was holding on to the weight to store toxins. I was *determined* to take it off and went from low carb to no carb, and I really wonder if that made it impossible for my body to hold on to toxins. I lost the fat but got sick. I heard toxins are stored in fat in order to get them out of circulation and away from vital organs, but with continued exposure, I probably would have gotten sicker anyway. I do think that people who hit a point where they cannot loose, should consider that they need to detox, as well as thyroid issues. My thyroid figures are okay, but I know that is a reason why weight can be nearly impossible to take off. It seems that being exposed to mold really threw my thyroid off, > too. Guest guest
Judy, I don't think early stage cancer causes a person to feel sick but it could. I think it was mold exposure that made me feel sick, to answer that question. But when it got to point it was causing me to lose too much weight, it probably was contributing to fatigue and weakness. What testing did I have for cancer? Pathology inspection of tissue removed after surgery for an ovarian cyst diagnosed cancer. However I did have some blood test run prior to surgery that I arranged for and paid for on my own to try to determine if I had cancer. Reason for that is that usually a cyst is benign and would be removed by laporoscopy but because cyst was large doctor wanted to treat it like it was cancerous and remove it surgically. I wanted the laporoscopy, since it is out patient surgery, so I paid to have some blood tests done. If they came back looking pretty convincing I didn't have cancer, I would have searched for a doctor willing to give me a laporoscopy, but they came back ambivalent, borderline for cancer. Best one I thought was first of two, by American Metabolic Laboratories and Hollywood, Florida called a 'cancer profile'. It came back as 3 of 6 markers were 'slightly' elevated. That was in July. 5 months before my surgery. There were 5 months before I had surgery because I was refusing surgery. I didn't want it. In August, two months before surgery, I had a tumor marker test by " Chaperon-Tarbouriech Labs " who are in France and test called 'cancersafe' tests, if you are worried about cancer. Their test looked at all the tumor markers, called CEA. My doctor had already run two CEA's and they were negative, but there are about 5 other tumor marker tests, so I paid for them all to be run. My CEA-19 digestive system cancer, and CEA-125 ovarian, were close to top of range but not over it, so they said no cancer detected but advised me to run again in 6 months to a year.. Since that was only 8 weeks before finding cancer, I feel the test I ran in July, the Cancer Profile test I took from American Metabolic was better test. It tested for- HCG (IRMA), HCG (IMM), PHI, GGTP, CEA (tumor marker everyone runs), TSH, and DHEA-S. The DHEA-S was way, way off, and still is really. That has been retested twice by another doctor here and I always test way off on DHEA-S. It is considered important sign of low functioning immune system. I would like to get a newly researched predictor test, called AMA test by Oncolabs. My gyne doctor said she would write an Rx for me if I want to take it, so will probably do that sometime. Here are links to that test. Here is link to info on OncoLab test: http://www.oncolabinc.com/ Here is information about the AMA test from Pub Med: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8162608 I'm really not too worried about it because I feel it was due to environment and also I had been exposed to lead paint dust during a remodeling and it was removed at early stage but you never know. I did not have chemotherpay or radiation treatment. Just the surgery. > > What tests did you have for cancer?
