Guest guest
Hi , Sun screens (and other products) with certain chemicals are thought to be endocrine disruptors, which is a known endocrine disruptor. Therefore it has the ability to cause thyroid disruption or even disease in some people. We always use chemical-free and natural sunscreens that contain titanium dioxide, zinc oxide and PABA. They are physical barrier-type sunscreens and generally less irritating. Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide protect against UVA and UVB rays. Read labels carefully. Brands of natural sunscreens include Kiss My Face, Aubrey Organics', Titania, Green Tea Sunblock (ingredients in green tea have been shown to protect against skin cancer); and Logona Kosmetik's Sun Milk line of mineral sun protection products. A few chemicals to avoid include benzophenone-3 (Bp-3), homosalate (HMS), 4-methyl-benzylidene camphor (4-MBC), octyl-methoxycinnamate (OMC), octyl-dimethyl-PABA (OD-PABA) Here is an article that may be beneficial: Can Sunscreen Make You Hypothyroid? http://thyroid.about.com/od/newscontroversies/a/sunscreen.htm I hope this is helpful, ~Bj > > I'm sorry if this has been discussed before but is there a legitimate concern about sunscreens being linked to Hashimoto's? If so, which chemicals do we need to avod and which sunscreens are best? >
