Guest guest
Hi there!!! We did it. The meeting lasted from 2:00 till 8:00. It was terribly exhausting, but so great. They actually gave in to everything. I am tired so I will let you know more details tomorrow. Basically, there were people outside the district who were so great in helping Patty. Finally there were specialists and such that others could not ignore. Also, there was sooo much animosity beforehand that walking into the meeting actually I though I was going to read my statement my lawyer gave me and then just go to due process. Yes, I have kept everything they have written. As a matter of fact, I have saved everything from the very beginning. You should see the files she has. That was good of me (I have a little OCD too I guess). They have five days to now put things into action or I will be filing suit. I don't think I will need to though. Things look good. There was so much that was wrong, but there is also so much that is right. Isn't it absolutely terrible that we can't glorify the good? I cannot tell you how much the specialists out there (outside of my district) have helped us with Patty. And you know what, I cannot tell you what I would do without this list. Such guidance, and compassion is here. It also gives me strength to know others are out here who know what we are going through. This has given me strength and the power to carry on. For Patty, I thank you. WOW. What a day! But, like I said, seeing is believeing. Bonnie
Guest guest
Bonnie, Send some of that positive energy my way, as I have to go to bat now for who is having a very difficult time reading, and no one seems to think it is a problem! I know it's only January but I am really concerned because in 3rd grade (Josh is in 2nd) the students are expected not only to read, but to begin reading with comprehension and doing book reports, etc. I am meeting with the sped teacher and the classroom teacher on 2/3. I am going to write a separate post about what's been up with . I just haven't had the chance.
