What I should do is have this lab explain to me what kinds of tests

they are doing. And what do they mean by index?

Thanks for the suggestions I sent her websites on it to check out.

You never know? I wish her doctor cared enough to do more testing, I

guess we are lucky just to get the MRI. It's like pulling teeth at

the school for tests.

After the MRI I want my daughter to request a referral to another

doctor at the school. This is her only solution for now, our new

insurance won't kick in for quite some time.

She has already gone the route of gyn's but that doesn't mean

anything---ha!!!

thanks for writing---tina

In addition to Sharon's concerns, you asked exactly the right

question: " How do I know what specifically is making me ill? "

You are ill. You looked for mold. You found mold. But maybe it is

chemicals, allergens, personal care products, food, or a non-

environmental medical condition. If you look for those what would

you find? Just finding something doesn't mean it is the " cause. "

As I said in a very recent post earlier today, sometimes we have

to act without knowing for sure. But that also gets us into trouble.

So we have learn more. Not to make the perfect response but to

find a better one. Guided trial-and-error is sometimes all we have.

If you check the archives for my responses and those of Jeff May

and others about mold testing you'll see that mold testing, even

by professionals, is no where close to perfect or even useful.

But at least you are looking. Other questions that need

answering, including before mold testing results can be

interpreted, include location, climate, building type and use (one

recent inquiry was not a house, but an industrial warehouse. Big

difference!), history of building and use and of the occupants.

Expecially what are the occupants susceptible to compared to

what they are exposed to. Both exposure and susceptibilty must

be present or there can be no complaint to that exposure.

Can you give us more details?

Thany you Carl for responding. I live in Northern Ca-just outside of

El Dorado National Forest. We enjoy beautiful weather here, with each

season relatively mild. Very dry--low humidity-no rain between April-

November to speak of.I live in a A-frame wood house Chalet-2 story.

It is built off the ground with a crawl space under. We purchased 10

yr ago-Fannie mae Repo-new paint--- " AS IS " which included floors

that apparent H20 damage-but passed housing inspection. The house is

located down a lane of towering cedars and pines,it's like going

camping but you live there.

I am usually somewhat of a workaholic 7o plus hours a week til

illness came along last spring.(coincides with my work reduction of

30 hrs a week)--more time at home more illness---in hindsight.

> Since then I have been thru- 3 pcp's--and at least 10 Specialist

trying to diagnos my illness. What I- have found out is you are your

own advocate because at the end of the day even your friends and

family cannot believe in you. I have lost all creditibility-I'm not

whining, just fact! This is what has helped---

B12--found out deficient in 2005-re-instated therapy via injection

2ml once a week

Vitamin D--Sunshine really helps

Gluten Intolerance-Pre- latent celiac anti gliadin 79 -Gluten -free

diet

Casein -free- If I have dairy my eyes and kidneys ache--Eyes a big

problem

And now I am trying the mold-free diet-It is very difficult- It

appears that these are the foods I was most craving- peanut butter-

raisins-coffee-tea- etc..

Even with these incredible diet restrictions--my syptoms still

remain.

Weakness-Fatigue-Brain-fog- Parathesia-Shortness of breath-

As of 2007 I have allergies to dust mites- tree's(birch-alder) and

Mold!! I do not have sneezing- waterey eyes' congestion-just the

opposite dry eyes-no tears-dry mucous membranes.

I can no longer wear ear-rings-nickel? My poison oak keeps flaring

up dependent on what I eat--has been going on well over a month.

I recently attended a Celiac support meeting with a very

knowledgeable physician as speaker--He said that allergies can be

caused by Celiac but my question to all is-Can my allergie's(MOLD)

be causing my food intolerance's???? I believe that my illnesses--

cancer 2003-b12 deficiency Shingles 2005-Graves 2006-Allergies-

2007 Hypertension 2008-Latent Celiac 2008-are all caused by MOLD and

this house---But can that be? It sounds so Absurd-Unbelievable--I

have not said it aloud to anyone.

Sorry for the long post--venting--My question remains is it normal

to find these fungi in my home? I am going to start demolition and

am going to find the source of our mold problem--I know it is from

the roof--I cannot afford outside help and I have a mind to find for

myself-- wish me luck-- I'm goin In---Donna

When you have these symptoms it would also be good if you could check yourself

for Lyme and its co-0infections since they cause the same symptoms. The problem

is to find a good physcian that is Lyme literate and that he would give you the

right tests. check the for Lyme and ask questions. You could have

both like many of us do. It is good that you are a fighter. We have to be in

this world. I have been sick for close to forty years and yes most do not get it

especially when you do not know what you have. But it makes us stronger. Keep up

the good fight. cathy

Donna: Only a handful of people with Lyme will test positive, it is

really diagnosed by symptoms only by the best LLMDs.(lyme literate md)

If you research it, many lyme patients will have it for up to 5-10

years without a positive test result. You are correct, the symptoms

are exactly the same which adds to the confusion.I am in your shoes, I

have ALL the symptoms and am also a mold survivor. I guess I just

wanted to say dont completely rule out the Lyme by test results only.
